Oh, trust me. I can think of something much worse than lying awake and waiting for the coffee to turn on.

Arlo must be at the age where coffee is not the thought that gets you out of bed.

Nice detail in panel 3, Mr.Johnson. The coffee maker, the pot and water pouring, and Janis’ eye-roll are perfect!

Set it for 5:30, tell him it’s set for 6, he wakes up at 5:45 and the coffee’s ready.

Sounds like Arlo like the pause and serve function of their coffee maker. He has to be there to get the good stuff before it finishes brewing.

Ah, first world problems.

I stopped setting the auto-on time on my coffee pot a long time ago. For me, being a light sleeper, the noise of the thing coming on would wake me up whether I wanted to be or not.

First, there is nothing like brewed coffee. That single cup stuff just does not cut it. It’ll do in a pinch. Second, get a coffee maker made by a company that starts with B and ends with UNN. Those use the same method as most restaurants. I can make a fresh brewed pot in 3 minutes.

What gets me out of bed most mornings is a small hungry dog. I make coffee after he’s been outside and fed.

I’ve never used the timer. I want cold water in the pot, not room temperature.

my husband gets up at 4am every day and has the coffee pot set for 5:50am…..I get up at 6:15 or so and I have nice fresh coffee…….. No he doesn’t work but likes to get up early and have the house to himself for a couple of hours plus his walking.

Actually it is. Janis is becoming less and less interested in “amour”…as happens with everyone as they age.

I put the leftovers in the fridge so at least I can get a jolt of caffeine while today’s coffee brews.

To us song writers, it’s called burning the midnight caffeine.

Arlo has become boring…….

Many panels show them going to bed at the same time but Arlo wakes much earlier than Janis. Talk about a sleepy head.

Life can sometimes be sooooo complicated.

I sympathize with Arlo. Before I retired that was my routine. I never needed an alarm clock. Never failed me once but was hard to turn off.

and here I thought laying in the bush trying to sleep was the worse, but hey, civilians have their own nightmares.

I do instant coffee. 1.5 minutes in microwave, then 1 cup at work from the coffee maker.

My Dad and his coffee, he would drink it before bed, never kept him awake and it wasn’t decaff.

I have the coffee maker set for 5:30 so by the time I’m up, showered, and shaved coffee’s rallied brewed by 5:45

How can something smell so good taste so bad?

When we got engaged a neighbor of husband’s family who was in the coffee route business (delivering coffee supplies to businesses) gave us Mr. Coffee style coffee maker. We don’t drink coffee.

The first time we had friends in they thought it terribly funny when they watched us (both) reading the instructions on how to use the coffeemaker as we made them coffee – it was our first use of same. Not sure if we have it any longer or died and was tossed some decades ago.
