In 1654 Anthony Johnson, in Northampton County, convinced the court that he was entitled to the lifetime services of John Casor, a Black man. This was the first judicial approval of life servitude, except as punishment for a crime.

And also Russia and Poland were fighting over the Ukraine

LOL… A LOT of day dreamers in school went on to be genius authors, inventors, business tycoon, etc. But, Mrs. Wormwood’s job is to create worker bees for the system.

Perhaps Calvin is bored because he is so far ahead of the 2nd grade class. My son quit school at age 14 because as he said “They had nothing for me.” A couple of years ago he turned down an IT offer from Amazon for $250K/year. He’s 39 and just announced he has enough money to retire now.

So what happened in 1654 that they’re teaching to first graders? I like to think that it was French mathematician/philosopher Blaise Pascal’s “Night of Fire” mystical experience on November 23, but that doesn’t seem to fit the map behind Miss Wormwood.
