What’s it pay?
It’s an euphemism arms race
I love this story arc! And Nelson is getting quite the vocabulary lesson.
Next stop, right hand man!
Nelson could be Pence.
Like the Cabin Boy on a ship!
Who would want to be an underling or a lacky, let alone a gofer?
Kid’s being promoted fast. Pretty soon, he’ll be the CEO of the whole house.
Won’t even have to play the long game, if this keeps up. Couple of days should be enough.
He hasn’t reached henchman status yet.
Gofer is still better than a toadie, but in my mind the job description for lackey is slightly better than that of gofer.
Call me when you’re ready to offer pawn.
Nothing like being played by you grandparents.
Where IS my thesaurus?
There is nothing better than the precious Roscoe in this cartoon , His right eye open in the first panel is a " riot " for sure : )
I predict that tomorrow he’ll be promoted to Earl’s Man Friday.
Nelson I still think underling is your best bet. The rest don’t have a good ring.
Nelson soon you’ll be Grandpa’s trusty “sidekick”!
That’s not a promotion. Union Rules clearly say that while “Lackey” and “Gofer” are different job titles, they are both at the same pay grade. It is therefore, at most, a sideways move rather than a promotion.
Must be fun to have a KID around that you can MESS with……. or maybe NOT.
Sooner or late (more than likely later), Nelson’s bulb will come on and he’ll get it!
What comes next? Apprentice?
Earl and Opal enjoy messing with Nelson from time to time.
Roscoe has seen this before……
Ha! This could go on forever!
The dangers of leaving one job for another.
Soon thereafter, Nelson was in charge of picking out their retirement homes.
Better than being “A chief cook and bottle washer”!
Is it illegal to be a lackey and a gofer at the same time?
…………and put you in charge of lawn maintenance.
Wait until he sends the gofer out for a skyhook, and he spends all day looking for it.
At least he wasn’t offered a promotion to gopher.
What’s up with Nelson’s eyes in the third panel?
This word play is excellent
