There was a news story recently about a delivery woman in Florida who was bitten by a rattler while on the job making a delivery. Luckily, she survived and is recovering.

They say that most of the dust in our homes is us, shedding.

Ha, I think everyone is missing the main point here, she has picked up a book, reading and turning pages. This is from the 80s, so she went to the library, not Google.

The most amazing part of this comic strip is that Elizabeth, now in Grade 9, still just throws her clothes on the floor expecting her mother to come into her room and pick up her clothes off the floor in order to do her laundry and will watch her mother do that without even once offering to help.

Am I the only one flabberghasted??? It feels like yesterday that Lizzy was 8 . . . now she wears a BRA!

If Mom’s still picking up after that kid, at least use a rake.

Our two youngest were slobs, but cleaning their room usually involved shoving everything under the bed. Hubby got mad one day and threatened to hang the beds from the ceiling. And he did. He got 1/2-inch plywood, some 1 × 2s, and some chain, made platforms for the mattresses and put hooks in the ceiling beams.

The girls loved it! Those swinging beds could be spaceships, covered wagons, Spanish galleons . . . They used them until they were seniors in high school.

I grew up in Eastern Kentucky and there were a healthy population of timber rattlesnakes. They are a very laid back snake and very colorful.

I was in 3rd grade when we moved to Texas. I checked out a book on snakes from the library, and informed my mom that nearly all the poisonous snake species in the US could be found in Texas! She was thrilled to learn this…

My bride NEVER let me or the boys toss clothes on the floor. We had laundry bags on rolling brackets in the kids bedrooms and in the bathroom. When one got full, they took it down for washing. When they hit high school, she made them wash their own clothes. I am lucky. She still looks after me.

There was a case of a boy in Fort Worth, Texas who saw a snake with red and yellow bands. Unfortunately, he did not know that was a coral snake (which is poisonous) and it bit him on the finger. The bad news was those snakes are not often seen in Texas and the hospital did not have any antivenom. The good news was the Air Force flew the proper antivenom from Louisiana to Fort Worth, and the boy’s life was saved.

As Veteran’s Day was yesterday, let us give thanks for those who served in the eight uniformed services. Not everything dangerous or time-sensitive they did had to do with combat.

Nudists don’t have these problems.

The only states in the U.S. that do not have rattle snakes are Hawaii, Alaska, and Maine. Alaska has no snakes.

I’m grateful that Lynn has Elizabeth specifying that the 25 years and the 10 day are “of age”. Otherwise i’d have assumed “of weight”.

Why is she picking up Elizabeth’s laundry? My kids were doing their own laundry at that age.

So why isn’t Liz picking up her own clothes?

The Pattersons don’t shed their skin. If they did they would look like the exposed extraterrestrials from They Live.

Is there a reason why snakes are popular in today’s comics? BC is also snake-themed.

Interestingly enough, a discussion we had about timber rattlesnakes and their shedding habits has been removed today 11/14/2023. I saw it earlier this afternoon, but now it is gone. There were no bad words or negative comments or religious or political discussions. Just people sharing information about timber rattlesnakes. I wonder why it was removed. The controllers at gocomics are mysterious. It means someone flagged it and they did not bother to check the content. Oh well, it’s not like it mattered, except I was enjoying the conversation and now it is gone.
