Haven’t followed this strip for long—never saw this guy, so I don’t have to go wtf, not in character, etc. Pure awwww! moment. :-) One Halloween when I was a kid, I had to stay home with a fever. Dad went out and trick-or-treated for me, brought home a big bag of loot. He was well known in our small town and he said people rilbbed him for it, but he just said he had a sick kid at home and I guess they pitched in! The stomachache that year was epic. Thanks, Dad, love you! Happy Halloween to all, be safe and have fun!
My grandson has 2 friends that are not allowed to trick-or-treat. As he doesn’t come to our house, we brought him a small bucket overflowing with candy (figuring on ‘bonus brothers’ friends). He said he was going to give whole bucket to his friends. Proud moment
I am the big sister and used to pick on my little sister all the time (and she would BUG me to DEATH), but if ANYONE or ANYTHING ELSE upset her, beware the wrath of the big sister. There was less of an age gap between my sister and I than between Red and Martin, but in size there was a very big difference. I was almost adult size before I hit my teens and she was tiny until her senior year of high school.
I have just remembered a Ray Bradbury short story called “The Emissary”. A boy was sick in bed on Halloween Night. He sent his dog out with a message tied to his collar. It explained that he was ill in bed but visitors were welcome. When the dog returned, the boy realized that the dog’s paws were muddy from digging and recognized it as graveyard dirt. He found that the dog had brought a ghost home to visit him,
Just enough age diff that the big brother actually thinks about the little guy. Great comic. I have a neighbor with staggard age brothers like this, and the one who just left for college partly raised and trained the littlest one, who has turned out to be a real gentleman. Great to watch this stuff.

First, love Rover’s ear in second frame. Now, I am a believer, if and only if, Martin is like this on Christmas morning. LOL

How nice of him. Every now and then your sibling can be kind. You may fight a lot but deep down you love each other and have each other’s back.

Why do I picture his brother sounding like Casey Kasem’s Norville “Shaggy” Rogers?

Ahhhhhh. This happened to me when I was in kindergarten.

Either he already changed out of his costume, or it’s minimalist.

He got a big haul telling people that his brother was home sick and is glad he gets to have some.. I still think he’s up to something though

This just became a redemption arc. I’d have done it for my brother, but it’s not quite the same. We were just a year apart
