I highly recommend NOT attempting to open a wine bottle with a razor. And I’ve got a scar to prove that it’s a bad idea to try to carve a piece of 2×4 with one too.

That’s both sides of the corkscrew.

If you want to open a wine bottle, why complicate it with bringing up a Swiss army knife and Occam’s Razor?

Mad Magazine once ran an article titled “Contradictory Proverbs”. There were a lot.

Don’t stick anything in your ear larger than your elbow.

Not to mention mixed metaphors

Never bring a Swiss army knife to a wine battle.

I guess that’s why they never even tried. Abductive reasoning doesn’t work on cork.

A pair that I often have occasion to trot out around Thanksgiving:

(1) Blood is thicker than water.

(2) You can pick your friends, but you’re stuck with your relatives.

LOL, no, indeed they couldn’t!

Many Proverbs appear to contradict each other but they depend on hearer to use discernment. Such as Proverbs 26:4-5 –Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes. "

“Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes. The self-confident fool thinks too highly of himself and his opinions, and he shares them freely.”

My favorite is Proverbs 15:1 “A soft answer turns away wrath, a harsh answer stirs up anger.”
