Looks like the interviews didn’t go terribly well. The first guy we’ve never seen before thinks the case held a bassoon, so he’s clueless.
Then, we have the mysteriously Cockney maid. Somehow, I think it would sound more natural if she ended that first sentence with “I did” instead of “I ’ave,” but then the script couldn’t trot out her “h” dropping.
Then we have “Mile of roads” — I mean Milo Rhoades — maybe he’s a Rhodes Scholar.
OK … I’m guessing all these interviews took place at the Choate Club … or maybe a few took place at the Institute where the body was hidden in a trunk for a year. It is a little confusing, just as it’s a little unbelievable Libris would walk around with an easily identifiable case in which she carried a murder weapon. I guess today’s strip moves the plot along, but every time it looks like Tracy is making an investigative breakthrough the narrative gets stuck in neutral again, with more scenes at the MCU where nothing gets resolved. I’m beginning to wonder if TCA asked the writer to stretch it out, until they had a better handle on Mike’s situation.
But still no collection of evidence or investigation or interrogation about the most recent book binding guy’s murder. Even when obviously one of book binding store folks or coffee shop guys had informs killer about victim meeting cop. But let us not interrogate them or looks at their phone calls records. Who cares for victim be poor man eh.
Tracy can mull membership while sifting for clues. Will Tess be allowed to join too on the buy-one-get-one-free spouse program ? Tracy hit the bonanza on this one ! Choate club manager(?) looks like a square shooter who stands for the club’s best qualities.
Reviewing the strips at Pfister from September 24-30, I see at least two loose ends still unresolved: 1) the ancient manuscripts (previously-forgotten) that Manutius was researching at the time of his disappearance (who bequeathed them and why they are important) and 2) the apparently missing “Volume IV” that Lee noticed.
he MUST have been SMOKING some dope… he was so wasted, that when he first came across a bassoon and saw someone performing on it, he thought it was an elaborately designed bong…
It’s as if the editors ordered up a Dick Tracy tale using the procedural format of “Law & Order,” to make a bloodless, nonviolent, suitable-for-all-ages Dick Tracy substitute. There’s no mystery, no action, and no reason to keep reading this story.
Tracy begins to build his case against the Bassoon Case
1-PERFESSOR MOLDY: A baboon case you say? Wouldn’t a baboon be in a CAGE?
2-UPSTAIRS MAID: I won’t be snitching on a club member don’t ye know. Not for free anyway…
3-DIRTY ROADS: You got a warrant?
4-DT: What discounts do cops get to become a member? We bring benefits with our presence because we carry guns and put down attempted robberies or insurrections by the staff.
5-MS. BIGMITTS: No discounts. Here’s a list of qualifications required of applicants. Judging by your attire, I doubt you’ll qualify. Please leave…by the Servant’s Door.
1. How soon until this wraps up? It is looking rather evident that Ms. X. Libris did the murders. Motive not discovered yet, although a suggestion of covetousness. ?How did she know so quickly that a plate remover had spoken to Sam and then killed him? Sounds like she has a network of helpers, or prescience, which failed her a few days ago.
2. In real life there are typically a couple of cases being worked at the same time. I would like to see a case where the trail goes cold, some other case is taken up and worked, and then a clue rises in the first case.
Tracy concludes a flurry of interviews, and pretty much every one of them focuses on or at least mentions the long carrying-case Xaviera hanles regularly. Now, just one more step is needed….

Just in case, she carries a case emblazoned with a “C”
Captured on the street-cam. Data stored CCTV.
Ignorance is bliss it’s said. Her mind now has a care
Suspicions harbored by the law. Might Police really dare
Suspect one of such privilege. Collection and wealth vast
Lineage and family tree, connections now and past.
Few would recall her sporting days. An épée she did wield
Foes fell hard before her. Skilled champions did yield.
Drain the glass. This too shall pass. Yet what she does not know
Evidence is piled high, and hourly does grow.

If Ms. Libris plays a wind instrument, I suppose it is with a symphony orchestra.

Y’know…I once had a root canal and a screw put into my jaw without novocaine that was less painful than this storyline

I posted 3 days ago that case contained a bassoon. A bassoon played by a baboon during a monsoon.

I recall the story where Groovy Grove died—thanks to a college student(Normal Jones) with a grudge against cops.
he kept his gun in his locker at college, and the MCU were able to get a warrant and legally seize it.
So now let’s look in Libris; gym locker, shall we? I think there’ll be more besides socks that smell like BO PLenty
