it is harder for us pluggers to get down to scoop up the ice cream than it was when we were kids.

My pup would eat it anyway! You should see him inhale a pup cone from DQ!

For those in the know, East Winds in Cascade Locks has mega cones. Even the small are almost too large for one person. We like to take “new folks” for ice cream, and drive up the gorge from Camas to there. We told one individual “GET THE SMALL!” Nope, she had to have the large. She took one bite, and the rest promptly hit the ground. “We told you!!!”

Gee, as a Plugger I learned some time ago that you don’t Ever tilt your ice cream cone forward or backward as losing the dip/dips/mound of ice cream is more than likely. The higher the the ice cream goes, the narrower the angle of lean before catastrophe strikes so why chance it.

This is a Pluggerism I can Identify with. Although I don’t remember ever dropping my ice cream, I would be upset.

That type of thing doesn’t generally happen with a soft serve ice cream cone.

It’s 11pm, but he’ll still head on over to 7-11 for more ice cream.

Everyone does. In fact, it’s WORSE as an adult, because YOU’RE the one who paid for it!

Worse now because.. either he cleans it up or he gets the wife to do it and suffer the whining that is bound to follow. Life was so much easier when mom took care of all of that, with a hug and buying a new cone.

Of course. It’s still the same tragedy. But now you can buy your own replacement scoop. In a bowl, crowned with the cone. The kids at the local B-R really tamp them down though. I haven’t lost one in years. (knock wood)

Waste not, want not! The melted ice cream on the floor holds the dirt. Unless you are outside and it lands in the dirt, then it gets a little TRICKIER! But, if mud pies never killed you, why all the fuss?

If we have ice cream – in cone or bowl – it is for pre-bed snack at home. It is eaten sitting at the kitchen table (food only eaten in house there or at dining room table (on holidays).

If it is dropped it will end up in the bowl on the table in front of which of us dropped it and can safely be eaten – and it will NOT be on the floor.
