Quick story. A year and a half ago a good friend had an accident and is now a quadriplegic. Truly sad, but he has great support and is positive. A few months back I gave his sister and her husband 25 fresh baked from scratch chocolate chip cookies to bring to Dave. Unfortunately the temptation of the cookies in the week prior to them bringing him the cookies was just too overwhelming. Dave got five. I’m sure some people would be angered by that, but there is true love between all of us and it makes for a good story. Merry Christmas everyone….and say a prayer for Dave!
As a kid, my parents would buy a big box of broken cookies from Marvins for $2.00. Cookies for a couple of months. Get stale? So what? Who cared if they were broken, they still go down the same way.
Generally don’t taste when I bake, which is rarely these years, as Diabetic so have to greatly limit carbs, then again, I have no need to bake cookies any longer as the same applies to husband and there is no one else to eat them.
My specialty in baking though, has been angel food cakes. I have won numerous blue ribbons at our (three county) county fair. I have baked marbled angel food cakes with sponge cake marbled in or 2 flavor with chocolate cake marbled in. We stopped entering items decade or so ago for a variety of reasons.

Heard there aren’t any calories in broken cookies.

Don’t need one. I already sampled a couple.

That’s why I don’t bake cookies too often……I could eat ’em all….by myself.

No calories in melted ice cream, either.

Something had to be done with the extra cookies that wouldn’t fit on the plate.

I “taste” everything I bake; hence, the extra 5 pounds I acquire by New Year’s Day!

Yeah, when I bake cookies, I can’t help but sample them for quality control purposes.

And she did not have just “a cookie”. She had about 11.

Not my Janis, but for myself – being there, doing that, got the calories.

There is nothing like a fresh baked cookie 2 seconds out of the oven.

Anything you eat out of what food you’re preparing, during the time you are preparing it, until it goes on the plates, has no calories. It is known.

Some of the unspoken rules of being a cook:Never trust a skinny chef.If your the cook, and you’re hungry, it’s your own fault!

I don’t think I’ve ever before seen Janis’ snout distorted like that. I’m guessing the cookie was too hot.

Janis had the best idea ever. A plate for her, another for Arlo or the guests.

I’ve already gained 6 pounds from “tasting”.
