It’s obvious from behavior that right whingers do in fact hate green energy, but also obvious that in the era of the oil barons, they would have been ALL OVER a new energy system: That’s where the profits are, after all…

Just another instance of why it’s hard to NOT think of them as downright crazy.

There is no greater threat to the finite filthy fossil fuel industry than homemade energy produced onsite, mostly from solar panels, but also occasionally from wind turbines on the property, and then stored in batteries for when the sun don’t shine or the wind don’t blow.

The finite filthy fossil fuel industry will lie and say it doesn’t work or it isn’t really cost efficient, but their real complaint is that it renders the middlemen obsolete and cuts them out of the financial loop. And right-wing media will rush to promote those lies — for a price. After the bombshell reports of what those at Faux “News” and other right-wing hate media really knew (while knowingly lying and saying the opposite on air) that we learned from the “discovery” material that came out during the Dominion Voting defamation lawsuit, we know these professional liars will say anything if they are paid enough.

No matter what lies they say, the reality is that once you invest the one-time, up-front cost to get started, it pays for itself. You get free energy. If you stay in your home, it pays for itself in six or seven years after which all future energy is simply free. If you sell your home, the capital investment you have made in your home has added value onto a house that you would now be able to sell as coming with free energy — no monthly electric bill ever!

And this value is further enhanced if you also buy and electric car that you can plug into that onsite homemade energy.

I hate to be the one to break the news to you but America has gone so far down the corporate/fascist track that it’s too late to turn back. Your politics is so deeply entrenched in the pockets of “donors” that it doesn’t matter who is in charge any more. You may think your vote counts but only to overthrow democracy, voter purges and gerrymandering have fixed that. Good luck with your future, you had a good run.

Do Elmo and Patsy know about it? There were no electric vehicles in 1985 when I bought the record.

“Drill baby, drill” in 2023 is the equivalent of chanting “Typewriters baby, typewriters” at the dawn of the PC age.

For some reason leftists believe conservatives hate renewable energy, especially EVs. We don’t. Many of us just don’t believe EVs are going to save us from the “existential threat” of climate change. They also use enormous amounts of materials, some mined in 3rd World counties under questionable conditions, such as the cobalt mines in the DRC. Meanwhile many of them are charged from the grid, and a good bit of that electricity comes from fossil fuels.

Personally I am pro choice, if you want an EV go for it. They just don’t meet my needs. Recently I just bought a new Asian-made vehicle, and its EV counterpart cost $22,000 more. I did however purchase a a battery powered weed trimmer, as it is practical and meets my needs, but I doubt it would meet the needs of a professional lawn care company.

Meanwhile, I hope grandma will recuperate. Those things can be dangerous when you can’t hear them coming.

I don’t hate wind or solar, they are just plain expensive. The quote for solar for my house was $57k. That is a lot of electric bills, before I break even.

What cracks me up is the far right foaming at the mouth over the “Green New Deal” and blaming things on it. It is a series of proposals, none of which have ever been enacted yet, and few ever will be.

California utilities have taken a big step to crush solar power. Think PG&E, SCE and SDG&E. CPUC now all in utilities’s pocket. AB 205 has been a great Christmas gift to the utilities that just keeps on giving. Check it out. We have the best legislators that money can buy.
