I don’t think Pig gets the point of that saying…

You fail at everything that you don’t try.

That’s not to say that you should try everything. But don’t complain about not succeeding in something that you didn’t even try.

I know what’s meant and yet I also see it as a double negative. Cancelling out the double negative reads you hit all the shots you take. And that ain’t so.

And now Pig is talking to Rat, wonder how discouraged Pig wants to get.

Well, I take a lesson from the lottery instead: You can’t lose if you don’t play.

Actually (literally), you can’t miss a shot that you don’t take.

[More literally, (it should be something like): While you may miss, you don’t have a chance to make a shot if you don’t take a shot.]
