A few years ago, I took a tour of the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia. Disappointed that they didn’t hand out free samples.

I’ve read that it not only costs more than one cent to make a penny, it costs more than five cents to make a nickel. An actual case of, the more money you make, the more you lose.
