Pandemic was the best time for this. Cut it off short, let it grow back out long and natural.

Just what every husband wants to find himself in! The Wifely Catch-22. There is no right answer here, other than “You’re BEAUTIFUL Janis!” Then turn out the lights… and pretend to sleep, while she simmers thinking on how she’d hide your body…

Welcome to the Kobayashi Maru, Arlo.

Growing your hair out doesn’t have to be a horrible experience. When I stopped dying my hair the white grew out and pushed the color to the ends like a reversed “frost” (for those who remember the 70"s). Never had so many compliments!

Janis can see her roots just as well as Arlo can. There is no reason to involve him in this. The only smart answer is “You always look beautiful to me”.

For all the years I’ve been reading this strip, I think this is the smartest and wisest thing Arlo has ever said!

Arlo is eat up with wisdom!!

A wonderful plot device, showing that Janis still has some of her insecurities and that Arlo has grown to know that there is no “right” answer to the question. Unlike other less deep-thinking and short attention-span commenters, I do see that this is “advancing” the plot and keeping with the true nature of the characters!

Golden Rule for Husbands!

I just want to point out the excellence of the drawing in this particular strip. Somehow he really showed the way a woman looks when trying to see the part in her hair with a mirror that way, and then dipping her head down so someone else can see the part in her hair. That’s just not an easy thing to do, regardless of how professional an artist you are. Awesome job!! :-D
