I don’t really get the point here. Ex Presidents have always gotten a lot of perqs including their library and at least some security… not to mention a nice retirement check. And they can always sell at least one autobiography or “discussion” or whatever. What they’ve never had, should not, and maybe even SCROTUS will agree with me, is unlimited immunity for any activity at all.

Following Joe1962’s logic, Trump is working SCOTUS over so if he gets re-elected he will truly be able to break any law and claim immunity. A concerning thought? Yes. Maybe we should vote to continue a Constitutional Republic.

So if SCOTUS overturns the denial of immunity for presidents, Biden has a clear path: one orange jumpsuit to Guantanamo with an ex-president in it, and 9 more with SCOTUS. It would not be enough to send just the rightwing SCOTUS members because the others have enough sense of justice to complain about such a thing. Collateral damage. There would also have to be a lot of GQP congresspeople headed there so that funding could be found to expand Guantanamo to fit everyone needed.

Well, the loot that Clinton and Bush got, assuming they got anything, W is a pittance compared to stealing Secret Documents and managing to divert millions into the Dump, Inc. company. Why, when the Clintons were in the WH, they built a building to house the secret service at their home. Dump charged the SS for accommodations so much that they ran out of money.

He knows he has committed crimes, otherwise, why would he feel the need to request immunity? That is a confession of guilt on his part. He is a regular person now and shouldn’t have special privileges or treatment. The GQP’s obsequious behavior of letting him dictate policy about assisting our allies and taking care of our border is absolutely dangerous, unacceptable and disgusting.

Immunity is part of the delaying strategy. The more appeals the longer it will take for the trial to start.

Let me explain it in a way you’d understand. If Biden had the powers that your god claims to have as President, he could declare you an enemy of the state and execute you without trial or charging you with anything else and never be prosecuted for that. Nobody thinks he has the power to do that, and everyone agrees no person should have that kind of power. See all the dissidents in Russia that somehow fall out of buildings despite windows being there for angering Putin.
