The point is that snow chains are put on the drive wheels. In this case, the horse’s legs. If you have extra, maybe on the trailer wheels, but that is redundant. The drive power comes from the drive wheels of the truck not the trailer wheels. Those just turn, have no power at all.

I think that the horse would prefer a blanket of quilted cloth to one of metal chains.

Is that puff that’s roughly over the king’s head supposed to be a cloud, or his dark thoughts? He needs to find a coachman who knows what he’s doing.

We used bags of sand as weight to get more traction, but I guess 80 pounds of chain draped over the horse would work just as well.

For those interested, there actually is a different solution in real life. There is a type of horseshoe called sharp shoes that are basically horseshoes with cleats. My grandfather used to have them put on his horses in the wintertime and then would hitch up an old box sleigh and wait in front of our school at the end of the day. All the kids would pile in and he would drive around town and they would hop off when they reached their home. He once got a stunting ticket for doing donuts in the sleigh in one of the intersections.
