Perhaps it’s because he’s chosen to characterize the voter ID security practiced by every civilized nation in the world as “racism” or “voter suppression”. Perhaps it’s because he’s succeeded in transforming once-proud and independent journalists into another mere appendage of the Federal Administrative Police State.

Or perhaps it’s just because everybody is thoroughly tired of the “Silly Old Uncle Joe” routine he uses to deflect from the fact that he can neither think nor speak without either a teleprompter, or else Susan Rice to help him rehearse.

The current Republican in Name Only Party is Trump’s party and he will lead them to complete and utter defeat in 2024, along with 2022 and 2020. With Lara and other sycophants in charge of RINO funds, they will redirect all monies to Donnie’s legal problems and Donnie’s POTUS race. They will deprive the state and local leaders of funds and coordinated support (unless you consider a Trump ad in your district as floating ALL boats, while I’ll consider it sinking all boats).

To call the current iteration the Republican Party is an insult to the hundreds of Republican elected officials that came before. This is not the Republican Party. It is the Trump Party, a party that praises despots from North Korea to Russia, a party where cruelty is the point, and a party where the rule of law does not apply to party members, especially its leaders.

Reagan talked about a shining city on a hill. He spoke of being hopeful and aspirational. In contrast, Trump’s recent speeches are long and laden with resentments. He offers a dark vision for the nation that terrifies people and animates his maga base, much, in the same way Hitler rallied the Brown Shirts of 1933. Trump touches on recurring themes, including his election denialism, his promise of a sudden transformation in another lawless term, and his claims of persecution and martyrdom. Another Trump term will usher in a police state, with Trump at the top and ruthless followers subduing freedoms.

The current state of affairs in what passes for the Republican party sickens me, and I dare say, much of the country. That is why President Biden and the Democratic Party are the only natural alternative. We will welcome any real Republican who has been cast out of the party of Lincoln.

Here are some principles Republicans claim to support: Border control; Fiscal responsibility; Individual freedom; Traditional values; Free markets; Law and order; Military strength. Agree with all of these things, but maintain that Donald Trump is a deceitful narcissist who is primarily concerned with personal enrichment and glory and unfit to be president, and you will be labelled a RINO; you will be shunned and vilified, and possibly threatened. But if you really don’t care about these principles yet maintain that Trump is the “strong leader America needs,” you will be embraced.

The cartoon I’ve yet to see, but have wanted to see for nearly eight years, is two rhinoceroses facing each other angrily, saying “You’re a RINO!” “No, you’re the RINO!”

I’ll take it as a rhino. The Republican party is dead; all that’s left is a Cult of Trump.

Used to be if you were called a RINO it was because someone felt that you sounded like a Democrat.

Nowadays being called a RINO means that basically you could be anything other than a Republican.

Trump certainly is a RINO, but he’s no Democrat. I’ve got all kinds of Republican friends who are shocked at what the Republican party has become. People who vote, run for office and serve as Republicans, but have nothing to do with Republican beliefs, values or morals.

Always entertaining to read what dems say about Trump as they reveal their inner Trump – they come out in packs and make no sense but I swear they get the came text to repeat. Kinda like group think – like their congressional leaders no deviation from the party line.

I agree, I have studied editorial cartoons since they first started in 18th century England. What I miss in current cartoons is the symbolic objects placed in the cartoon. Thomas Nast cartoons where a 19th century example. He coined the Donkey, and the Elephant for the 2 parties mascots. He all had visual symbols like a pumpkin placed in the cartoon indicate the subject of the cartoon was a moron. My favorite the “tar baby” symbolized an issue you were stuck with. The tar baby was alway drawn with the “baby” stuck to the person’s leg. Al Capp’s Li’l Abner was a particularly poisonous cartoon who in its heyday in the 1930’s was so deliciously anti-New Deal.

Ramirez tells us that today’s republicans are RINOs, not the “authentic” republicans of Lincoln’s era — nor even Ike’s era.

So, if you’re not in the Trump Party, you are a RINO?
