I’d be tempted to do a web search for how many dogs there are in the U.S.A. and in the world, and how many of them are male, but that might be carrying things too far. All the dogs I know personally are good boys or good girls.
never doubt the power that the phrase “good boy” has over a dog. My mother once stopped an aggressive pit bull from attacking her and our little dog by sternly saying “bad boy.” The giant aggressive thing shrank and walked away with his tail between his legs, defeated by SHAME.
Chaining dogs should be outlawed. If you can’t keep a dog fenced in or in the house, you should not own one. Chaining a dog makes them feel vulnerable so they become more aggressive / defensive.
Dogs like being talked to, it makes them feel like they are a part of things. What else are we going to say? Although, the dog here was just a bad boy! :)

Sometimes those big dogs look mean but they are very kind and gentle at heart.

According to …
The global dog population is estimated to be around 900 million, with approximately 20% of these dogs being regarded as owned pets and restrained..
Since about half of those are male, that means that there are about 90 million other “good boys”.

But is he the best boy?
Goat from PBS 10 months ago
Well, I’d imagine, about half of those dogs are girls, so there should only be thirty-eight million other good boys.

If it’s a Korean who told you that, be afraid. Be very afraid.

900 million dogs in the world so his number of good boys seems a little low.

What would happen if Garfield met with Dug from Disney and Pixar’s “Up”?

I am always telling my cat he’s a good boy. Because he is. It’s not just a phrase used for dogs.

Do all dogs have a self esteem problem, or just the ones Garfield knows of?

So in passing a yard, with a rather aggressively barking dog, I said “Good boy!”.
To which the dog stopped barking and started wagging his tail.
