It’s funny, but through time religion seems to suffer from something like theological hyperinflation. The Gospels and Paul’s much earlier Christology make Salvation out to be the result of an arduous self-discipline—"many are called but few are chosen", and all that. Nowadays it seems that everyone is confident of “salvation”, that the Rapture will be pretty general and not just something that affects a few unusually godly souls.
Possible captions/reactions from the folks who were Raptured:
(1) “Wow, you really can’t take it with you!”
(2) “Good thing we’re not those sourpusses from Marital Mirth, isn’t it? We’d never have gotten out of there!”
(3) “Finally! Rescued from that desert island!”
(4) "A priest is whisked away from Earth in the Rapture, and — Hey! Where’s that Rabbi I was out drinking with? I was just starting to tell him the funniest joke I heard . . . "

The Rapture is a pretty bad bit of theology. I’m a Christian, but not of this aberration.

If all the crazy holy rollers and sky pilots disappear in a Rapture, it will be the only good thing they’ve ever done for the rest of us.

The Rapture already happened. So few made the cut that nobody noticed.

No one is going to comment on the homage to all the famous editorial cartoonists? This cartoon is jaw-dropping
