Woodstock bailed real quick.

Imagine if reality physics worked the same way cartoon physics does and dogs could really do that. Every once in awhile a bird will pick up a turtle in B. C., and that might happen in reality because turtles have to worry about predators, and I wouldn’t put it past a large bird like an eagle to pick one up and make a meal out of.

For a moment I thought it said “ACME Helicopter Pad.”“In the unlikely event we should have to make a water landing…”

Woodstock uses a parachute… but he can fly.

in WW1 pilots were not given parachutes because governments were afraid they would bail out of expensive aircraft. ironically guys in observation balloons WERE given parachutes.

I don’t think parachuting out of a disabled helicopter is a thing, given the whirling blades of death. I guess some special forces could jump out of a flying one in a halo operation.On the other hand, beagle ears are pretty soft.

In World War I, balloon observers were given parachutes; pilots were not. Aircraft were expensive and the military leadership wanted to give the pilots incentive to bring the planes back.

Also, parachutes weighted too much. Every ounce counted.

My “wait, what?” moment: I don’t think you can bail out of a helicopter in the first place, and then, Woodstock is a bird that can fly anyway…

I’ve heard they don’t put parachutes on choppers because they fly at altitudes too low to bail.

We locally lost a parachute plane. The first one out’s parachute snagged the rudder and broke the tail. Everybody, including the pilot had a parachute jumped and landed successfully except for the plane.
