Not to be maudlin but like Arlo every day I look at my Janis and I’m reminded how lucky I was she chose me.

Janis is an example of naiveté?

Careful Arlo. This line of talk can go wrong so quickly…such as talking about those attributes in the past tense.

I can hear Janis now…“What do you mean WERE?”

He’s just a sweet talker.

My wife doesn’t understand how I can see her the same way that I did 15 years ago

I can’t see how I could see her any other way

Arlo should have replied, you were incredibly beautiful, sexy and made me feel so alive, and you’re even more so today and everyday from now on. Even if this makes my wife roll her eyes when I say it.

Arlo, you should have quit while you were ahead.

The 4th pane should have been, “After all, it was just 15 minutes ago” instead of “really, you don’t”

She doesn’t need to keep reminding him of how she used to look, or that he’s sweet? ☺

Janis…you’re not taking the HINT!!

That is what is referred to as a backdoor compliment.

Remembering thing when we were young and frisky is wonderful!

it truly was love at first sight. 39 years old, wild and wooley and single the whole time. met her and I was smitten. together now 33 years and married 29. Still today I let her know in many ways how happy I am and how she still turns me on.

My Lady is 69 years old and looks better to me than ever. She just keeps getting better. We still go 3 times a week, and I thank my GOD and ask what I did to be this blessed so I can do it more.

As true as it inevitably must be, I’m surprised Janis took his comment as a compliment.

someone made a comment and I’m paraphrasing, if you find the perfect girl, what makes you think she would chose you.

“….yep those were good days way way way way way way back then.”

Arlo, do you really want to sleep on the couch that bad?

Even now, when I look at my ex I still see the twenty one ear old I married.

My paternal grandparents were married on New Year’s Eve, 1920. Even though they’ve both been gone now for several decades, one of my favorite stories about them is from a time when they were both in their late 70s. As Grandma told it, she woke one morning to find him staring at her. She said: “What are you doing?” He answered: “I like to watch you sleep. You are still so beautiful.”

What do you mean “were”?

My second wife was 65 years old when I met her. She was gorgeous. It’s a good thing I had not met her 24 years sooner, when she was my age and completely out-of-control beautiful. :)

Husband and I met first in a creative writing class.

His then girlfriend was on the yearbook with me. We used to have a monthly birthday party for all birthdays that month. I would bake the cake and list the names on it. He came one of the parties with his girlfriend who was on the yearbook and it his birthday month and I added him to the cake. That impressed him.

We became friends. Then later we started dating (a bit surreptitiously as we are of different religions and did not know how our families would react) and found out that we both love movies – especially old ones, big band music, reading, history and so on. I became editor in chief of the yearbook and took the 3 guys I liked and made two of them (including him) managing editors and the business editor.

We are still, above all, best friends. At one point early on in our marriage we went through one of those “period of adjustment things” but remained best friends straight through. I often joke – He know more about Louisa May Alcott (my favorite writer) than any man should and I know more about James Bond (the books) than any woman should. But if one of us is interested in something – we both are.
