I personally watch shows that are atleast halfway believeable. Sometimes I try to give them the benefit of the doubt, but when they get too stupid, I check out. Last example was Three Body Problem. One of the dumbest shows I’ve seen in years, but I tried watching it just for dumb fun. Then there was the scene with the gravity, which was so utterly ridiculously stupid that I switched off.
Avid radio listener here. I used to feel the same about lawyer and politico shows. Writers ignore the fact that “a mile a minute” is not a normal pace of conversation.
TV is a vehicle for storytelling. Like all the books, music, 2D & 3D art, in the world, some good, some bad all opinion. Ironically if I said I only watch TV and never read I would be considered an idiot or a certain orange faced former POTUS.
Let me guess. Joe watches Chicago PD and Marcie watches Chicago Med. One day perhaps one of their kids will become a firefighter and watching Chicago Fire. Gotta cover all the bases here
As a professionally trained cleaner I get worked up over the opening scene in Downton Abby in which the staff remove the dust covers inside and proceed to shake the dust onto the furniture et al. Pointless scene.
I argued with the news casters and called the commercials blatant lies. The TV was history. I only listen to NPR classical music station to avoid radio commercials. And the station only does 3 minutes of news!

DH#1 was a board-certified attorney, and would criticize legal shows for the same reason.

In the early days of E.R., there was an episode where they were looking at and discussing an x-ray – of a dog..

People who brag about never watching TV are just as annoying as those who won’t stop yapping about their favorite show.

LOL. When I tell people I read comics, many roll their eyes!

There’s nothing good on TV, anyways.

Kind of like reading comic strips that are routinely ridiculous…

We don’t watch shows about the military (particularly the Navy) for the same reason. I get irritated at the show and my wife gets irritated at me.

This is why I gave my tv away and read comics instead.

Candid Camera’s theme was “It’s fun to laugh at yourself” but it’s also fun to yell at the TV!

Dad used to watch WWII shows and rant about the plane parts. Like one that used footage and had a P51 attacking Pearl Harbor.

Is being “normal” that important?

Ask a computer guy about TV computers and computer experts. Elon Musk watched too much Knight Rider.

No TV – but a closet streamer?

I liked watching the rescues on the “911” fire shows but, they like to show too much of their personal lives which I really don’t care about.

The world would be quieter without the nitpickers, but we’ll never be rid of them.

Don’t miss TV. Besides real life history in books is way more bizarre, weird, intriguing, or down right demonic, sweet, encouraging, etc.

Yep. Like the Monk episode where a guy talked about the ground being frozen….in San Francisco. Ha ha ha ha ha!

I love watching bad films, shark attacks, ants attacks, doomsday weapons or big rock… I laugh my head off as they ignore the rules of the universe.

My doctor sister loved to watch House just like the rest of us, but she did laugh at the ridiculous cases they had every week.

We haven’t watched TV since 1995 when we cut cable. Have to admit, it’s been a real conversation stopper.
