Well, you could just tell her you will put cameras inside the house to help her keep an eye on things. Be sure to get the kind with the speaker so you can talk to her as well. Then see how she trusts you.
Back in the 50’s in Oz, we were afraid of girls, and didn’t know how to approach them (and we still are). We didn’t know if they were interested in us. And we didn’t have any money, anyway. I was too afraid to approach a girl.
Can we get off the constant wild party theme??? Would she be still “in business” if she had thrown even one party? Word gets around fast & the neighborhood would quit hiring her & definitely refering her!
I lived for a while in Missoula, MT, and worked at and attended the University of Montana. Loved western Montana. There’s a saying about Butte: it’s a mile high, a mile deep, but the people are on the level.
This young lady better be reconciled to spending a lot of time overseas, mining is pretty close to dead in the US. BTW mining operations are almost never near cities. They are not at the end of the world, but you can see it from the mine office.
Still not getting what’s going on here, but Mining and Engineering is a hands-on field for sure, and I’m sure Montana Tech would be a good place for it.
Is Janis really concerned about the sitter’s boyfriend coming over? Why would she care so long as her plants and cat are cared for? Also, I thought the sitter lived nearby and would just pop in to check on things, so parties are unlikely.
It’s finals week at Montana Tech here in Butte, and commencement is on Saturday, so he MIGHT be on his way home. However, most of the engineering students from MTech will be doing summer internships (our Career Services office on campus is fabulous in getting employers involved), so there’s a much better chance he’s not going to be around Janis’ house. Thank you, Jimmy Johnson, for a shout-out – Charlie Oredigger says ROLL DIGGS! And don’t forget to tap ’er light.
I used to help my daughter pet sit years ago. We would be in the house after walking the dogs and I always assumed the house had audio and video recording. All of our conversations were professional.
Janis should be worried about her because she’s a STRANGER, not because she’s young! ANYBODY at any age that moves in could have a party or even claim squatters rights. I’d be more concerned about THAT

Montana has a university? Never even heard of so I wonder how much of „I heard the have a wonderful mining program“ is utter BS.

I guess I’m at a loss as to what Janis is alternately excited and worried about.

Love the way Janis frames her questions to get the info she wants without directly asking.

Janis could have made her relieved reaction to the news that the sister’s boyfriend was out of town a little less obvious.
