Another Bok misfire: 1) In a respectful marriage, Martha-Ann would have exercised some self-control, given Sam’s position. 2) Sam apparently approved of the flag displays or doesn’t know how to respectfully ask his wife to replace it right side up, lacks the know-how of how to replace the flag himself, or has a disability that prevents him from doing the job himself. Or, and this is probably right: 3) it’s not a misfire and cracker65’s comment above nailed it.
It’s too much fun watching leftists mewl for weeks on end over flags someone flies on their private property. Meanwhile the economy/inflation & Biden’s open border remain the top voter concerns.
Interesting how people who last week were screaming against reproductive rights for women and quoting nonexistent Bible passages about how a woman must be subordinate to her husband are this week crying about “mysogynistic” attacks on Ginny Thomas and Martha-Ann Bomgardner Alito.
No one is saying that. Once again, you’re projecting your own behavior on the dems. Besides, Alito was in agreement with his wife. He only turned chicken and blamed her after the blowback started, so he could hide behind the whole personal autonomy ruse. Once again, NO DEMS ARE TELLING ALITO TO CONTROL HIS WIFE.
What is supposed to be hypocrisy on the part of the liberals due to their feminist stance, is really just a smokescreen to cover the misconduct of Justic Alito. It seems it can’t be said enough that the highest court in the land must be held to the highest standard. Feminism calls for the end of dominance and control and sees marriage as a partnership. As partners, both Alito and his wife should understand that even the image of impropriety is bad for a judge. As partners, they should willingly work together for what is the pinnacle of a career in law.
s49nav, those are not female democrats, it’s republican politician’s wives. They know there is no use having radical right-wing bribe taking justices if they ’’show’’ their corrupt.
Bok, who’s the woman with the sign supposed to be? She vaguely resembles Marjorie Taylor Greene, but I’m not aware of her opposing SCOTUS, although if she did, I could see her picking words like those on the sign. (She’s pro-life, naturally, but she clearly finds a certain vicious appeal in this sort of language.) But I don’t think you mean MTG. I think you’re implying this to be a Democrat or liberal or left-winger. If so, then this is the strawmanniest strawman I’ve ever seen you pull out — and you’ve pulled out some doozies. Alito has not been criticized for failing to control his wife. He’s been criticized for quite obviously throwing her under the bus to avoid taking responsibility for a lack of judicial decorum.
And yes, a judge’s spouse’s behavior does cast doubt on the neutrality of a Supreme Court justice. He doesn’t have to control her, but if she is not willing to support his work, then I question why he remains married to her. It shows poor judgement. That is, of course, assuming he is actually not in full agreement with her decision to display nakedly partisan symbols as part of what he describes as a neighborhood feud, which would only be even more concerning. It’s true, of course, that we can’t tell whether he supports her viewpoint or not — but that’s the point, and the problem. Bok is evidently blind to this; like many, the expedience of a justice that is on his side is more important.
No one says Alito is at fault for ‘not controlling’ his wife. Her belligerence probably precludes any sort of reasoning with her.
.
Alito should not be a justice on the Supreme Court, NOT because he doesn’t control his wife, but because he is a severe partisan who takes bribes and does not even attempt to judge cases fairly. He does not recuse himself despite obvious conflicts of interest, believes he should be accountable to no one, especially Congress, and does not believe in the first amendment.
He threw his wife under the bus. The craven Senator from Texas let his wife and father be insulted. The entire party is under the thumb of an easy to spot liar, grifter, coward, fraud and corrupt, incompetent Russian dupe they all know is unfit. Of course being a spineless hypocrite is a prerequisite for being a Repuglican.
Please find me the liberal saying that. And not the ones saying it in jest to point out the hypocrisy of a man who actually does agree with that sentiment saying that he cannot control his wife. I don’t think he should control his wife, but, if he wasn’t on board with the attempted coup (sure seems like he was) he could have discussed with her the impropriety of a prominent display at the home of a Supreme Court justice of a symbol of a coup. And, being reasonable people, they should have been able to agree that they should take down the flag.

Since Alito can’t seem to control his wife, he will take it out on every other woman in the USA and control them instead.

The attacks on him because of his wife are ridiculous. His secretly recorded comments, however, are repugnant.

They way you , Bok can control your racist sexist, homophobic, xenophobic comments.

“Control your wife” said no one ever.
Which is how Conservative cartoonists operate: make up absurd fantasies and then blame them on Liberals.
