They’re not really serious about selling- otherwise they’d be painting everything Edgecomb Grey

It may be that a fresh coat of paint will help sell the house, but the new owners are going to repaint anyway.

Our houses are like ourselves, getting older and slowly falling apart.

What’s that Janis? Did you say something?

House or home?

As we get into our 70s we are increasingly repelled by the thought of selling and moving. We have been in this house for 14 years, have had adult children in it for part of that, and repainted the interior last year. The vaulted ceiling alone took three days. No way we would have done that if we were not expecting to be here until at least one of us is gone.

Of course, this is comicsland.

Arlo sounds as though he has the belief that, “If it was good enough yesterday, why isn’t good enough for today?”

So we’re back to selling the house and moving again?

My house is perfect to me and that is what counts…..

Janice sees it all, every day.

You decide to sell and fix everything to make it look good. Even the outside plants for curb appeal. The new owners move in and change everything or in some cases around here they tear it all down and build new.

Wow, I notice all the imperfections, every day. Must be nice to be a man and somehow not see all the work that needs to be done. It is very irritating to be married to that man. He never does any of the work because he doesn’t see it.

“mushy” fascia board sounds like they have bigger problems than he realizes.

slightly less extreme than that is having relatives make a rare visit and cleaning up stuff you hadn’t even realized was dirty

Oh, we see the imperfections, we’re just not going to do anything about them…….unless our wives make us.

I loathe painting. I do it, but I loathe it. Even the low VOC paints give me a ferocious headache

Mushy fascia boards means termites and the woodpeckers that went after them—or at least it did here.

In other words, she has been nagging him about these things for years.
