I like these with them interacting about daily stuff. Makes me look forward to retirement with my husband. He will be sarcastic as well, but I love their friendship.
When I was a supervisor in Postal Service I was over 33 carriers. They had a joke where they said a dress suit “ Sears sold it and a sucker bought it.” They would all start laughing.
I love seersucker. I always thought it was very ‘boaty’. It makes for great shorts and light summer shirts that I envision people in New England wearing on their boats and yachts.

Great comeback Earl, but that may send you to Roscoe’s house for the night.

Earl, here’s another saying for you. “It is better to keep silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubts.”

Maybe Opal would just like Earl to try some Matlock cosplay, to spice things up?

The varieties of cloth and their traditional names should actually provide Earl great opportunities for lame jokes to raise Opal’s ‘piqué’:
‘Broad cloth’
‘Dam ask’
‘Dung aree’
‘Ging ham’
‘Tweed’
‘Worsted wool’
For Roscoe, ‘Houndstooth’
Maybe Opal could per-‘suede’ Earl to take interest in fabrics from a humorous point of view relative to their quirky names …

I like the name of the store. At least Earl didn’t say she’s an old Sew & Sew!

What does she do with all this fabric? You never see her sewing anything.

Perhaps it is time for a seersucker suit for Earl with the pattern running horizontally!

Did you see the print? It’s darling! Very popular in the Belle Epoch! Ruby-throated sapsuckers!

Seersucker: from the Persian words “shir o shekar,” meaning “milk and sugar,” describes the alternating smooth and bumpy stripes.

I believe the first seersucker suit was in the late 19th Century, when a bunch of people sued a psychic for fraud.

You were doing so well, Earl, asking her what else she bought. And then you had to follow up …

I don’t how it is elsewhere, but where I live, seersucker is very hard to find in our fabric stores.
