Didn’t watch them. Haven’t bothered since the 80’s when the hype wasn’t so loaded with really bad ads and acts that one got tired of waiting for the next 2 minutes of actual reporting.
I was raised in a bilingual atmosphere. I got away from Québécois French in my youth, but now in my 80’s I find myself switching languages. I was taught not to translate in my head but actually think in that language. Drives my prairie friends crazy when I reply in French without realizing I’ve done it
Sportswashing, football hooliganism, footballers promoting political issues and Muslim teams raising their behinds to promote their religion ruined sports.
I like what Bill Maher said about the Olympics. He admitted right away that he’s not much of a sports fan, but he enjoys the opening ceremonies, when all the participating athletes parade into the stadium. He noted that everyone on the team from China looks Chinese. They all look Japanese on the team from Japan. All the Kenyans, Nigerians, and Congolese look African. All the Mexicans and Venezuelans look Hispanic. All the Germans, Danes, Swedes, and Norwegians look Nordic. And then the Americans come in, and they look like the world.

By all means, make money off it. But after that “opening ceremony”, I’m out. Not watching it.

Bert might embarrass Frank by greeting the natives with a French kiss.

Shame on anyone who is continuing to watch the Olympics after watching the degenerate opening ceremonies.
