My guess is that you were in nowhere close to sauna-temperature air. But that’s definitely ice-temperature water.

They jump in the water and when their butt starts to freeze, they say “I’m finnish”.

Love the artwork and facial expression in panel two. I can remember one time taking an ice bath. From what I was told, it was to break a fever when I was a very young child. I can completely empathize with Caulfieled’s experience. It’s something he’ll remember the rest of his life….it’s been over 55 years since my ice bath and I have NEVER been tempted to try it again!

We live about 2 miles from the water station tower that feeds our area. This is the third summer where tap water cold side is not even slightly cool. Gonna get worse.

In the Finnish language, “kamala” means “horrible”. Must have been an interesting time when she went to Helsinki.

Hah! There’s a guy Olafur Waage on YouTube. He’s from Iceland and does these hilarious short videos about the Nordic countries. The last panel very much makes me think of his videos. :-D

Some athletes take ice baths after a strenuous workout. Supposed to help prevent next-day soreness.

So they don’t have a clue about a sauna. The whole purpose is to open your pores and sweat out toxins and such. The cold water is close the pores and wash off the sweat.

They say going from sauna heat to icy water is good for your heart. I can’t help but wonder if it just weeds out the weak-hearted at a very early age. ; >)
