One of Ed’s daughters is Pam. One of Pam’s children is Max. Therefore, Ed’s grandson is Max.
Max is the current owner of the Valentine theater and was last seen in this strip on July 13 2024, with his wife, Hannah. They have a child named Mitch.
Okay, Ed, let’s go over this one more time since you seem to keep forgetting. Your grandson is Max, the late 20s/early 30s chap with the chin fuzz who “runs” the Valentine movie theatre with wife Hannah. Their child Mitch—who was born in said theatre back in February of 2020, making him about four years old—is your great-grandson. In other words, neither Max nor Mitch should be getting on a school bus at this point in time. Got it? Can you—and, more importantly, your creator who writes this strip—keep it straight?
“And now then, eager young space cadet, here is the course we shall pursue to find Planet X. Starting from where we are, we go 33,600 turbo miles due up. Then west in an astro-arc deviation to here, then following the great circle seven radiolubes south by downeast. By astro-astroble to here, here, and here. Then by space navigo-compass to here, here, and then to here and here. By thirteen point strato-cumulus bearing four million light-years, and thus to our destination. Now do you know how to reach Planet X?”
It’s funny because he appears to be hesitant about traumatizing his g̶r̶a̶n̶d̶s̶o̶n̶ great-grandson. I’m sure he’ll still do it though, he’s a professional.
Oh, cool. It’s Ed Crankshaft. It’s nice to see him make an appearance before he goes off into cold storage for several weeks. Perhaps Yabtui will grant us temporary respite from “The Burnings” by continuing the weekly Sunday one-offs featuring Ed. If wishes were horses.
I confess to cringing as I approached “Crankshaft” in my daily feed. I expected to see a sideways comic book cover featuring Yabtui, in a passionate embrace, French kissing Batton Thomas. Never so glad to be wrong in my life. Get a room!
… but … but .. but .. it means I have go be on good behavior … I can’t make most kids and parents run after the bus, but stop for my own kid … I can’t create a traffic jam trying to set a new record of obstructed vehicles behind my bus … those streets are short, so cars can take a different route.
FOR THE LAST TIME, HIS GREAT GRANDSON!!!Is it possible?! He will be forced actually to do the job he is being paid to do? Can you imagine the fallout from daughter if he makes his granddaughter run after the bus?

If Ed pulled his usual shicht on his Grandson’s route, his daughter would seriously try and have him committed.
