Wanda. Why aren’t you disciplining him? Revoke his plans for the afternoon and send him to his room without tv, iPad and iPhone

I know Kirkman and Scott were going for a joke, but this isn’t that funny owing to the “wait until your father gets home” bit. If the parents are equal partners, then they’re equally responsible for disciplining the children. Not to mention “justice delayed is justice denied”. Don’t give Hammie any slack, Wanda! :D

When Dad sees what you did with his guitar, you won’t have to worry about not having time to be scolded Hammie, because you will be grounded and your friends won’t be allowed to come over! In my day you’d have gotten a spanking too, be thankful if you are only grounded!

If you make your kid wait for the consequence you cut the effectiveness. Scold your child yourself and cancel whatever plans need to be canceled.

Why would they allow him to still do those things if he’s in trouble?

Unless Hammie robbed a bank, I don’t want Wanda contacting me at work about child discipline stuff.

Had that been me, all of those activities would have been cancelled then I’d have been disciplined.

What, Wanda couldn’t do it? Wanda – “I see a major change in your schedule for today. I see most of it being spent standing in the corner – now march. I’ll give your regrets to Trent and Brad. Corner time will be a split shift around your baseball practice.”

How about canceling his activities as a punishment?

In our house, ‘wait till your father gets home’ meant son would be getting part 2 of the trouble he’s in. I was more than capable of dishing part 1 out.

Which is the worse problem here: over-scheduling or allowing the child to be (or think that he/she is) in charge?
