Why would A and J want a 40 acre property at their age? Maybe Gus can just sell them the house and sell the other 39 1/2 acres to someone else.

Yeah. Like taking care of 40s will be a breeze. That is a lot of WORK. Big time.

I had 12 acres a couple houses back. Nine in ravines, two in a meadow (grass and blackberries) and the driveway was the rest of it: 20 feet by 2907 1/3 ft.

I’m still not sure where the “rush” part of the story comes in….

Since the A&J audience’s age tends to be “older” you would think story lines would move a little faster.

Wonder how many life long A&J fans have “passed on” the past year waiting to know if there’s going to be a relocation or not?

40 acres is a lot of upkeep. Land will return to the wild if not tended. As a retiree I would not think of such a thing.

However, if the kids want to become tenants on the land it could work out… at least in comic strip land.

I could see 40 big ranches on an acre each. Close to the kids and easy upkeep. Gusville!

Green Acres is the place to be. Farm livin’ is the life for me. Land spreadin’ out so far and wide. Keep Manhattan, just giveme that countryside.

can’t hear “…acres more or less.” without thinking of Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House (highly recommended) where it turns out to be a lot less.

well they’ve been dilly-dallying around for most of this year

We’re on less than a quarter of an acre. We can’t deal with anything. When husband quit his job about 15 years ago he fired the lawn mowing/snow clearing company we used. It took both of us (well, I could have done it alone) to push the lawn mower or the snow blower. Last year I talked him into hiring someone again.
