Are they in the Southern Hemisphere? ‘Cause if they’re in Boston or anywhere above the equator, that’s a 7 AM moon, not a 7 PM moon – a waning crescent!
I turn it out because I buy five big bags, and once it’s gone and the village TT hours end, then that’s it. I never eat any of it either. Just that many kids where I live.
Our church had a Fall Fest with Trunk-or-Treats, carnival games, bounce houses, a hayride, and a couple food trucks (and that’s not all!) Wednesday night. Tonight, I think we’re turning off our house lights as well as leaving the porch light off. No candy left, and I only got a couple pieces that had been dropped but still wrapped and not stepped on.
Every year, my partner and I buy candy for the trick or treaters. We never see a single one. Somehow, all the candy is gone within a day or two after. I’m a diabetic, therefore I’m out. So…
some ten years ago, it’s pitch black out, no lights on, and there’s no street lights around here, and our doorbell rings. It’s an older teenager, no costume, just wanted candy… (eye roll emoji here…)
The kid must not live in NY State where toy guns are banned if they have any remote resemblance to real ones. Many years ago, I had a cap gun that closely resembled the Colt Single Action Army pistol, including 6 simulated cartridges to load with caps.
When I went out trick or treating we had to be home before dark/dinner time. Then again, quite often we were out trick or treating in the afternoon as the “entertainment” for my birthday party and had to be back home in time to have cake and for everyone to go home and later have dinner at the normal time.
We don’t get trick or treaters at our house. We live on a 4 lane main road – we know the people in the house on either side of us and no one else in the neighborhood – have lived here 30+ years and same all along. Same in our apartment for the 10 years before same – no children in the complex. Two young teen girls came one time trick or treating – that was it.

That reminds me, I’ll have to look for candy being sold at a post-Halloween discount…

I turn the light ourt at 8 PM or when the candy is gone, which ever comes first. I need my hour of napping/dozing before I go to bed at 9.

If trick or treaters don’t respect my porch light being out, they get tinned sardines. :)

I feel bad for the Plugger, Mr. Magoo is up to his old tricks.

Around here trick-or-treating is late afternoon for two or three hours and is over before dark so the porch light doesn’t mean anything here

This plugger never turns on the light at all. It’s seasonal: “Bah! Humbug” through New Years.

I hung out the “No Candy” sign this year. Besides it’s cold and raining. I hope the kids have a good indoor Halloween at the malls.

Very limited trick or treat traffic on our street this year, despite our Halloween lights and creepy decorations.
