I tried to hide treats from all 3 beagles I have had, and always without success. They smell everything. They can follow the scent to the treat, much like bloodhounds. Bloodhounds have the best noses. Beagles are only second best.
One time when I was about 12 or so my mother had to go to El Paso to take care of her mother for a couple of weeks of surgery recovery (surgery was a much bigger deal back then). My father was… loving… but definitely NOT single-parent material, so they agreed to hire a housekeeper for the duration. But Mom also put toys, snacks etc. into about 72 small paper bags: One for each kid for each of the twelve days she was gone. I don’t remember a single thing from the bags, but I sure do remember that she DID that!

Hiding treats around the house would get me INTO trouble as I ransacked the place looking for stuff to eat!

Roscoe’s expression says it all and wordless. Canine are clever that way.

Opal is speaking to Roscoe but I thought she was really talking to Earl. Hiding his cookies would keep him busy.
