Love JJ’s depiction of the hard working delivery dude but I’ve never seen one working up a sweat, and I don’t understand Arlo putting down his better half’s offer to Christmas it up. Like Janis, I love to gift wrap which is lucky bcause over the years I’ve easily wrapped several thousand.
I could see putting the boxes under the tree like that as funny, but after a couple of days the humor would rub off.The wrapped packages are a delight to the eyes!
I would want to open those boxes to make sure that the product/s I ordered are actually in the box. Not only that, but if they are wrong or don’t work, there is a limited time in which to return those items.
My husband only does my gifts, and I do the rest. One year, he tried what Arlo is doing. Just once. We came to a quick understanding that laziness does not promote festive feelings, and underneath our tree should not look like the back of a USPS, et al., delivery truck. The cats were totally on my side.
My dad used to give gifts in “Dad Wrapping Paper” – the bag from the store! If he was feeling particularly ambitious, he might remove the price tag, but usually not. Sometimes the receipt was still in there as well. Dad gave really good presents – I miss him!
one year I wrapped presents in brown paper from shopping bags and tied twine around it. I was thinking of the lyric , “brown paper packages tied up with string”. This was before Amazon was so huge and we went to the store to buy presents.
But my family wasn’t a fan of the idea, so I went back to gift wrap the following year..
These guys do work very hard I just received a large package from UPS at 10:20 p.m.. Where I work we get deliveries before noon and when they back up to our loading dock we can see that their vans are packed to the roof, especially this time of the year. They are also under a lot of stress because of management efficiency requirements. They are a very important part of the new economy.
It is Extremely rare for us to get anything delivered (other than during the first, worst part of Covid when we could not go out shopping). We find in, general, that whenever we order something there is a problem if it is delivered. So, unless it is something we ABSOLUTELY NEED and WE CAN ABSOLUTELY NOT GET THE ITEM OTHER THAN BY ORDERING IT – we don’t order things (exception for Chinese takeout).
Are those from one to the other? We wrapped our gifts to each other. Some gifts that others dropped off were wrapped, but boxes came addressed to us that we did not order. These were gifts from family members in other states. We just put the boxes under the tree, as Arlo did.
Do you want us to open up the boxes before Christmas and giftwrap them to ourselves?

That’s too lazy, you should get rid of all the massive extra packaging now.

Unless they are not all addressed to you, you might want to add some name cards.

No decorations on the tree? No gift wrap? Don’t you know that part of the pleasure of Christmas is the pretty colors?

I guess moving is off the table for the moment… unless some of the packages have tape for moving boxes.

Don ’t forget to “Thank the Driver” if you use Alexa this time of the year they get a 5 $bonus.

Considering to whom the packages are addressed to, isn’t it illegal to open someone else’s package?

I decided to bag it this year. Dollar tree has tons of tissues and bags. Most are reusable, and I am penny pinched.

The brown wrappings match their sofa cover.

I’m not a good wrapper, but I still get pleasure out of wrapping gifts.

Speaking for my husband (and without his knowledge), I think he’d say that the gift bag is one of the greatest developments in gift-giving history.

I’m glad some folks here mentioned the hard work of UPS folks. I had thought the delivery guy was fleeing in terror, for some unknown reason.
