Both. But also with the same necessity: Peace and quiet, time for myself, paper and a pen, books, sudoku and the comics. And sometimes wool and needles to knit socks.
Skip the hug. It took over three months of being on disability leave to even consider full hugs to people I missed. Less than a month later I’m down to one armed bro hugs and should be back to no physical contact again soon!
Full Disclosure: I’m an extremely selective hugger. There are maybe 5 or 6 people I’ll hug, & they’re all immediate family or my closest friends. Everyone else, hands off!
Obvious from the comments that not everyone experiences the joys of life in the same way, Aunty. However, as I am recently coming off an illness that left me fatigued and with little appetite (but with a loving wife looking out for me all the time), I’m with you on this one 100%!
For me it is a good cry and a hug, I have had several good cries today but need a hug but nobody to give one to me, Dad is not a hugger and Mom, who gives the best hugs when needed, is 4200 miles away. I am so sad today, I miss my sister so much.

Works for me, especially if my hubby is providing both.

I’m a firm believer in “A hug a day” More is better too.

It’s not even T’Day yet and already I’m lonely. :sigh:

Not a hugger, sorta like Seinfeld. Greatly depends on who is doing the hugging. Not especially crazy about shaking hands either.

Well considering that whiskey, gin, rum, bourbon, scotch, and tequila to name a few, are all food products, you should be happy all the time Aunty.

A nice glass of wine works too.

You don’t have to sugar coat it, we know what you really like.

Yup but sometimes I go into solitude and reflect, a glass of wine with me, myself and I plus my most constant companion my guitar.
crazeekatlady about 2 months ago
Works for me, if the food is chocolate and the hug is from a cat.

Hugs are given freely in Mexico, which is one reason that I’m glad I live here. “A hug a day keeps the blues away”.
