There was a very similar joke in this strip during Halloween week.

It was not so much that rodents were carnivorous but they had fleas that carried the bubonic plague.

Interesting that this is relatively close on the heels of the news item showing California ground squirrels killing and eating voles. Coincidence? I think not.

I hope it doesn’t get drawn out too long.

Watch your Behinds…

It’s fine. I’m an old time radio fan so I’m used to using my imagination. Stan Freberg did a bit one time showing how radio was better than television. He used sound effects to depict a 700-foot mountain of whipped cream piled onto Lake Michigan, which has been drained and filled with hot chocolate. The Royal Canadian Air Force then drops a ten-ton maraschino cherry on top of the whipped cream, and 25,000 extras cheer.

… the authorities are having difficulties distinguishing the mutant rodents from the Fink who is trapped in the gerbil Christmas pajamas his mother made for him … last the castle staff heard, he was complaining that it is itchy and the zipper is broken.

He seems to have a gerbil on top of his head in the last panel.
