My mother in law (who lived with us) used to have a cat that would come to the front door to be let in and walk straight to the back door to be let out. Can you say short cut? They did this about ten times a day. And, no, I had nothing to do with the cats demise. Really.
Letting a cat or a dog roam free outside is a tragedy waiting to happen. I’ve seen a few cats on the side of the road. Plus, with coyotes becoming more adapted to urban areas, they’re looking for those kind of small animals to prey on.
My cat meows his face off at the front door to be let in. He has a cat door on the side of the house he knows he can use whenever he wants and does use it when he comes in from the back.

What’s more important is that it was someone who would rather not talk to you.

Law of one who has owned cats. Whichever side of the door the cat is on, it’s the wrong side.

So, Earl, don’t talk. (Just let her in.)
