Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be

Calvin reminds me a lot of Danae and Hobbes reminds me of Lucy on Non Sequitur. I think they should get married when they grow up! Of course, they might be too similar and Calvin probably loves Susie.
I was always getting in trouble for not doing homework; but my class marks were good and I always did well in exams. I always thought school was about learning; not filling out superfluous paperwork. Silly me.
Todayâs strip reminds me of an earlier strip which concluded with Calvin saying, âMy brain obviously doesnât believe a word my mouth is saying!â
I read the first two panels and thought âWhat alternate universe is thisâ? Fortunately reality as I know it returned to normal upon reading the next two cells.
âPeople are just about as happy as they make up their minds to be,â Abraham Lincoln.
Happiness, like success, is more of a state of mind than a state of reality.
âDonât aim at success. The more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side effect of oneâs personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of oneâs surrender to a person other than oneself. Happiness must happen, and the same holds for success: you have to let it happen by not caring about it. I want you to listen to what your conscience commands you to do and go on to carry it out to the best of your knowledge. Then you will live to see that in the long-runâin the long-run, I say!âsuccess will follow you precisely because you had forgotten to think about itââ Viktor E. Frankl, Manâs Search for Meaning
Some of the most fun problems only SEEM to involve math. Hereâs one:
Bob lives on the bus route halfway between the gals heâs been courting, Alice and Clara. He doesnât want to be playing favorites, so he leaves it up to chance: Every night at some random time after supper he wanders down to the bus stop and just takes the first bus that comes along and drops in on whichever lady is in that direction. Northbound busses stop there every half-hour, and so do southbound busses. But eventually Clara gets disgusted with Bob because heâs spending 5 times as much time with Alice as with her. Why is that?
I know Watterson was making points as usual about education and how it doesnât always work for some kids. I just had trouble laughing at this one as I have nephews with learning disabilities. Donât take it personal, I know.

My brain rejects attempts to convince myself that I get better endorphins from eating salad than from eating dessert. Or at least foods rich in carbs.

I would suggest doing your math problems outside, but I donât think that would work either, Calvin.

The first panel actually sounds like Calvin genuinely likes homework. But then you can hear the sarcasm seeping in with the second.
