Thankfully we are both into chocolate but when it’s for my wife it’s her favorite, the Frango Mints. I am a chocoholic. Mint simply ruins it for me so the woman I love knows I bought them just for her.
I made the mistake of giving the wrong brand of chocolate covered cherries to my wife, the store I went to had only one brand, she was the same way about ginger ale, only Canada Dry for her!
Let’s see, Arlo. . . if it’s truly the thought of remembering Valentine’s day that counts….and you know she’s on a diet and chocolates won’t help her lose weight, then obviously you should be buying chocolates that only you like! It’s a win situation all the way around. You’ve remembered the special day, bought her a gift, she resists the urge to eat the chocolates she doesn’t like and feels proud of herself, and you have a box full of chocolates to yourself….yay!
However, it appears Janis is not beholden to the same standards/responsibilities that Valentine’s day imposes on men. It certainly does not seem as if they are swapping gifts in todays strip.
when we were dating, my wife and I were avid D&D players . She didn’t eat chocolate, so I emptied a very pretty Valentine heart of candy, then filled it with all kinds of gaming dice that looked like a box of gems when I was done. She LOVED it !
My wife’s favorite is white chocolate. Do you know how hard it is to find white chocolate Valentine candy? But I will search till the ends of the earth because she is the best wife (43 years) ever….EVER!!!

I base my choices in Halloween chocolates bearing the ‘best interests’ of the trick or treaters in mind. ;^)

Better have a half dozen hand-dipped chocolate strawberries, just in case.

My Janis always acts as if she could care less about anything I give her, but later is very appreciative. Holds her cards very close.

I swear there are days I think JJ has a hidden camera in our house to draw inspiration for strips, and today is definitely one of those days…

That’s what I do. I buy the kind of chocolates I like because I’ll wind up eating most of them.

Never liked chocolate covered cherries as I don’t like the liqueur they are in. I am the odd person who does not alcoholic drinks at all.

I’m not that big on chocolate, but chocolate covered cherries are good. Haven’t had any in a long time.
