We believe the first big measles outbreak in Europe came about 250 CE. Large % of the Roman Empire died. Many thought it represented the end of the world. For the next thousand years those with resistance had kids with resistance and it killed fewer people when the caught it. 16th century and Europe brings it to the Americas – where it wipes out whole tribes with no resistance. 2025 Trump appoints an anti-vaxxer with a brain worm to be in charge of the nation’s health.

There have been 90 cases in Texas, the most in 30 years.

Guess it is time to return to the 1800s. At least that is what RFK wants. So time to find laudanum and other snake oils.

When the intellectually and morally challenged people voted in a clown for President we now unfortunately have to live with the circus he brought along with him.

A strip likely drawn several weeks ago (at least) becomes eerily relevant upon release.

With healthcare being cut in the USA (if it even exists) almost any illness can return … like COVID.

We don’t have to go back to the 1800s. I had measles back in 1962. Not fun. I also had mumps and chicken pox.

I am thankful that I was a child after scarlet fever and other once common childhood diseases (including polio) were eradicated. I will be even more thankful if my grandnephews and grandnieces can avoid the three that I had.

While no real vaccine exists for tuberculosis, well funded public health agencies in the USA have kept it in check (e.g., NIH researching preventatives/cures, CDC tracking/reporting outbreaks, etc.). With the recent GOP-led cuts, I suspect that the currently well controlled TB outbreak in Kansas City will be the last of its kind. Good luck to all of us.
