I am reminded of when I lived in North Hollywood, CA. In 1991, I went to the Southern California Indian Center in Van Nuys to see about getting help to look for work. I was told about the California DMV hiring Safety Officers. And they gave priority to Native Americans, I am a Cherokee Citizen. And they also give priority to Veterans, I am an Army Veteran. I had taken all of the required college courses. I did need to take a Civil Service Test; well I aced that. They told me my name was at the top of the list. But, after I took the test, the state of California had a hiring freeze. I tried to find other jobs but, I was considered over qualified. My unemployment was running out; so, I decided to move back to Tulsa, Oklahoma. I did have my mail forwarded to Mom’s address. I was back in Oklahoma for about four months. I got a letter from the DMV which listed 2 job openings. One was right where I wanted to work. But, I didn’t have the money to go back to Los Angeles. The pay would be good and a car would be provided for both work and personal use.

Good, maybe now Zipper will be history!!!

I wonder if the new hire with Zonker will get a weekly “harvest allotment”… sort of like how folks at Taco Bell can get free burritos or tacos?

From personal experience, lots of age discrimination in Germany. Young engineer needed must have 30 years experience.

The anti-DEI crowd thinks being a white straight Christian man should be a qualification to any job and get upset when they don’t get the privileges they think they’re entitled to.

Because of T-rump, all of the people of color are in prison, all the LBGTQ+ people are in the nut house, women have had all of their rights taken away, and white Christian males rule the world, with their faithful wives cleaving unto them. Oh, sweet mother Gaia, can it get any worse?

No country is perfect, a Utopia. Mine has faults, we’re even getting a Prime Minister today to replace the one that quit. The country and the party were fed up and soon we’ll have a national election. We’re going to have a serious discussion to see if we no longer wish to ally ourselves with a country that is trying to dismantle us and annex our country. Don’t tell me he isn’t serious, Fellon 47 is a lunatic in charge of the asylum that is your government. I will never set foot in your country again until your country comes to its senses. Just a note for the group: the Dallas Morning News has dropped the Sunday Doonesbury because …. just because.This is not normal.

Don’t remember if I posted it already or not, but the Dallas Morning News has officially dropped Doonesbury from its comics pages as a result of far too many of the new strips being too hot for editorial. No replacement has been picked yet, and unless something changed as of today’s Sunday paper the space in the Sunday section has been used to enlarge the other strips it shared a page with.

I guess from now on hair transplants are illegal.

This is so absolutely real, for so many decades, women and minorities never even got a second look. I am a retired engineer who graduated top of my high school class and basically the “guidance counselor” implied I could get a scholarship if I wanted to be a teacher. Any scholarship I applied for the application went straight to the waste basket when it said I wanted to study engineering. Thank you very much my poor farmer parents helped me get through a state school with no debt. I retired after more than 30 years at NASA with five years in private industry before that. I got both jobs because of a affirmative action, I freely admit, but I didn’t keep them because of that. I kept them and rose up the ranks exactly the same way this young man will, by working my butt off.
