I’m not an expert on SciFi, so a little help, please.

If he did buy it, then he’s trying to change his own past by telling him not to, thus making it impossible for him to travel to the past and warn him off the purchase..Clear as mud?

I’m guessing it’s like an Exercise Machine. I use mine all the time though, as a coat rack.

I’m looking for a good sale on time machines.

A small, countertop model will do.

I don’t need to fit inside, cos I don’t plan to travel in it.

I just want to make a little batch of time now and then, when I need some.

Hope the ingredients aren’t too expensive, though.

Maybe Brewster mistook his reflection on the glass for his future self? That would eliminate the paradox.

Maybe he bought it on time payments.

If he hasn’t just created an alternate timeline, then he’s guaranteed he’s going to buy one.

My proof that time travel is impossible:

if it were, I would travel back in time, tell myself how to make it and also give myself the winning lottery numbers.

Professoe Know-it-al solved the space time parados in his Way-Back machine by ignoring it.What would happen if Brewster gave his father a condom at the right moment?

I question my existance if birth control had been more available in the 50s. My mother wishes it were retroactive.

Hard to believe Brewster knows what a paradox is. Even dumb guys like me know that it is two peers.

I saw a great comic that had an inventor and a time machine. He only used it when he forgot to take the trash out on time.

A paradox is where you park your two spaceships at Space Mart.

It’s a good bet that time travel to the distant past will never be common, or we would’ve found out by now.

What if he just hopped into the store model at some point in the future and told himself that. Then if he never used his, and came back and told himself not to buy it, is it a paradox? It would be different if there was only one time machine available in the whole universe, and if it would never be available to Brewster if Brewster doesn’t buy it right now…

its only a paradox if you think that the timeline is a singular event, if there are multiple timelines then this could happen.

One theory of time travel (The New Time Travelers) suggests that every time travel creates a branch universe – thus resolving the paradoxes. If you kill your own grandfather, he is dead in that universe – not in the one you came from. This also explains “Djinn” (objects or information that appear from nothing analogously to a paradox that makes things disappear).

When the future Brewster appeared and warned the present Brewster not to buy the machine, the present Brewster took the advice. That caused the future Brewster to disappear.

    Hey thanks guys!

I’ll be careful to compare cartridges before I buy.

If the EasyBake will turn out little lumps of time and not just cookies it may be all I need. :)

The woman in the Charlie Chaplin film really was talking on a wireless phone, but it was contemporary. They really did have mobile phones in the 1920s, but they never caught on because they were expensive and inconvenient.

If traveling back in time and changing the past creates another universe, where does all the matter and energy in the other universe come from?
