She will hire him back the same way she did with Brad. She will realize TJ isn’t playing her game and hire him back. She expects TJ to be taken back, apologize, and beg for his job back, but no, TJ will just turn in his badge and walk out whistling a tune.

I hope this is going to lead to something and tomorrow’s won’t be TJ at home talking to Brad. I don’t like when Greg sets up something with a lot of potential for a really fun story then pulls back and then it gets slammed into a brick wall.

I’m willing to wait and watch, but virtually all of Evans’ recent plots have built up promising storylines and then collapsed like wet biscuits – the deux es machina reinstatement of Brad, for example. I’ve long since decided Evans has lost his creative touch and I’m really still reading this strip only because I’ve been following it since circa 1989 and it would be a pity to stop now.

Well, this scenario is coming to a quick climax, it seems. TJ still appears confidant, so he must have some ace up his sleeve. Being a majority stockholder in WeenieWorld, or better yet its owner, would do, but I don’t know that such a massive reveal is likely; something more subtle may be in store for Awful Annie Eiffel….

Management of many companies is a revolving door. A person is there for a limited time and needs to show a profit quickly. Laying people off accomplishes that with the stroke of a pen.

No one ever chooses between fast food or gourmet restaurants. You either eat fast or sit down and enjoy chef cuisine. People would not leave home and then decide if they want a hot-dog dinner or a la carte with matching wines. Having said that, I had a rather nice red with my hamburger on New Years Eve.

No. No. No. I can’t believe this is simply a re-run of the Brad thing. I want to believe that this is where TJ gets up, shuts the door, and the two of them go into a major clinch, knocking over lamps, and crashing into the wall. Passion on the cartoon page. Ah, but then, I’m always wrong at predicting these things.

Some people said Tiffany is the strip “villain”, but I don’t think Mr. Evans does villains. Too simple— he leaves that to Marvel Comics.Tiff is an alter-ego for Luann. If there was a “villain”, it’d be Toni’s ex (what’s his name?) But even he rescued Nancy. The Eiffel isn’t a villain either. But I sure hope we don’t see her softer side this week! Keep it going!(And yes, TJ isn’t fired, he’s just “considered” fired! It’s a way for her to save face when she asks for him to stay)

I doubt it will come to light that TJ owns WW. If Ann did a pre-employment background check on him, as all diligent employers would do, and he were the owner, that would have turned up. (Of course, this is Luann Universe, and from the Brad thread we see the HR regulations and standard hire/fire procedures that exist or don’t exist there, so who knows.) Any of the following is more plausible: he’s an undercover health inspector; he’ll organize a union; monkeys might fly out of my butt.

THANK YOU. Finally. Go Ann! He should have been fired weeks ago. Guys, remember, all Ann did was tell Brad not to slack off with his girlfriend during his shift (this is pretty standard for most businesses), then she gave him a promotion to give him another chance, and she later fired him because his girlfriend physically threatened her. This is not an unreasonable villain here, people, this is a manager of a business doing her job. In the case of today’s strip, she’s doing the job she should have done from day one by firing TJ’s stupid self. Of course, I’m sure something completely unrealistic and stupid will happen tomorrow for TJ to find a way to keep sexually harassing and gaslighting this woman, but that’s about what I’d expect from this strip.

No, eocene. Brad was not slacking off on the job. And whatever Toni did was not Brad’s fault. Ann was not doing her job, she was overdoing it; abusing her authority (Brad picking up her dry-cleaning was NOT a promotion), being arrogant and condescending with customers or clientele (a very big no-no in business), and for anything else just check the other comments. Ann is a very bad manager. She may be bossy, but she’s a most poor boss.

TJ does NOT want the manager’s job and won’t accept it even if it were offered. TJ is nor a worker bee; he’s a drone. You never see TJ at a job unless it entails some scheme – which this does. Even if he is the owner, (very doubtful – he would own some more substantial store) he would let the board of directors run it.

    Sigh…OK,once again…

“Right to work*” is a term that applies to a unionized shop, meaning that you can’t be forced to join to keep your job. Think about the words – it implies you have a “right to work” without coercion or pressure to sign a union contract.

“At will” employees can be fired or quit AT WILL. They can leave though their own free will, or be invited to leave at their employer’s

Try not to interpret my rather twisted sense of humor as idiotic or stupid. Track record indicates that I am neither. Besides, it’s fun to say things like, “There’s no such thing as too much cleavage.” Luann is a cartoon strip, an exercise in light humor. Fortunately most folks seem to understand that, others get pretty serious.

Ann is still a bad "guy’? To be honest, TJ had no intention of doing anything but be a disruption to her efforts. I say good riddance to him.

Nobody has ever indicated what TJ does to earn money. Could it be he owns Weenie World?

No, it’s not. Sorry, but the “at will” doctrine is not on the books as an anti-union measure, and the “right to work” statute was not created solely to shut them down, regardless of what the AFL/CIO’s position is..The “at will” doctrine dates back to the late 1800’s, its purpose was to define employer-employee relationships and prevent abuses where employment could become indentured servitude. With equal standing, either side is free to terminate employment – no harm,no foul. They can fire you if they want to, for any reason – and you can quit if you want to, for any reason, without your boss locking you in the storage room because you still “owe” him six months more work..“Right to work” along with the “union shop” ruling gives you, the individual worker, the option to join a union and support it if you want to – or not. It’s meant to prevent closed shops where joining and supporting one would be a condition of employment. It also doesn’t mean that if you don’t join, you’re a de facto “at will” employee, since there are other types of contracts aside from union ones. .“Right to work” and “at will” employment are two different things". It’s not even an apples and oranges setup, you’re arguing apples and hand grenades. Whether a workplace is better off with unions is another issue.
