Uh-oh… Is this where TJ confesses that he owns WW?
FatTonyBalducci almost 13 years ago
just like that??
ZacBSM almost 13 years ago
She will hire him back the same way she did with Brad. She will realize TJ isn’t playing her game and hire him back. She expects TJ to be taken back, apologize, and beg for his job back, but no, TJ will just turn in his badge and walk out whistling a tune.
Rockabore almost 13 years ago
Aw is Miss Queenie Weenie, mad? XD
Rockabore almost 13 years ago
I hope this is going to lead to something and tomorrow’s won’t be TJ at home talking to Brad. I don’t like when Greg sets up something with a lot of potential for a really fun story then pulls back and then it gets slammed into a brick wall.

Who’s being a weenie now?
poochiewoochie almost 13 years ago
Something’s up with this scenario. It’s not going to end just like this.
Airman almost 13 years ago
Weenie World needs a revolving door.

I hope there is more than what is actually going on here.

Yeah, I’m betting on TJ, but other than whistling on the way out, I ain’t got a clue.Too.

This is a “Win Win” for TJ. If he’s fired… he doesn’t have to work at WW anymore. And if she’s bluffing, TJ can name his price… Go TJ!
princecharmeing almost 13 years ago
i am all ears now,, TJ.. lay it on her,,,, woooo wooo

fox news reporting that there was workplace shooting at weenie world. multiple fatalities, shooter did suicide by cop. “this is class warfare”
Ottodesu almost 13 years ago
Betcha she regrets it when she finally finds out his real performance. She doesn’t have a clue what’s going on.
sarge112751 almost 13 years ago
My money is STILL on – Tj is the OWNER or Majority Stock holder in Weenie World’s Parent Company ….He didn’t “HAVE TO TAKE” this job – he SOUGHT IT OUT and CHALLENGED her into hiring him! (She bit the bait – HARD!).I’m saying; “Queenie-Weenie Annie” just fired HER BOSS!
flowerladytoo almost 13 years ago
I’m loving this storyline! Surely this isn’t all…if he owns Weenie World (or is related to the owner) it would be so awesome to see the Queen Weenie, get hers ;-D Can’t wait to see how this plays out!
Bill the Butcher almost 13 years ago
I’m willing to wait and watch, but virtually all of Evans’ recent plots have built up promising storylines and then collapsed like wet biscuits – the deux es machina reinstatement of Brad, for example. I’ve long since decided Evans has lost his creative touch and I’m really still reading this strip only because I’ve been following it since circa 1989 and it would be a pity to stop now.
Mordock999 almost 13 years ago
FINALLY!!!
She FIRES Him!
I was WONDERING how much LONGER this Woman was going to take GUFF from This Arrogant, Insubordanite, Grinning JACKASS.
And it ONLY took THREE Days.
Heck, when she fired Brad, it only took a second. And all Brad did was show up on time for work…,
Sisyphos almost 13 years ago
Well, this scenario is coming to a quick climax, it seems. TJ still appears confidant, so he must have some ace up his sleeve. Being a majority stockholder in WeenieWorld, or better yet its owner, would do, but I don’t know that such a massive reveal is likely; something more subtle may be in store for Awful Annie Eiffel….
Kathe almost 13 years ago
Fired? Already? Now what? Maybe as ZacBSM says, she thinks he’ll apologize and he will walk out whistling because he knows she’ll hire him back. I’m sure Greg has more up his sleeve with this scenario.
Varnes almost 13 years ago
Management of many companies is a revolving door. A person is there for a limited time and needs to show a profit quickly. Laying people off accomplishes that with the stroke of a pen.

i’ll bet he owns WW and she is hist- hist- i say history!!!! wooohoooo!!!!! she dont look mad

….now that TJ’s fired, they could go out and grab a movie….

No one ever chooses between fast food or gourmet restaurants. You either eat fast or sit down and enjoy chef cuisine. People would not leave home and then decide if they want a hot-dog dinner or a la carte with matching wines. Having said that, I had a rather nice red with my hamburger on New Years Eve.
ArtCreator almost 13 years ago
She said consider, well….. that means to think about it, buuut if he doesn’t want to, then he won’t be fired.
KenChevy almost 13 years ago
@BikeNBoatN … besides his arm. She’ll say “Oh, wait. Drop my laundry off for me, I was just joking about firing you.”
Doctor11 almost 13 years ago
I doubt he’s gonna just leave when it’s starting to get good.
imbaldeagle almost 13 years ago
In the last panel, Ann seems distracted by what’s on the paper. Could be something important and she’s tired of dealing with this impertinent employee. So get him out of the way cuz she’s got bigger fish to fry. If I’m right (not gonna happen) he’ll help solve her problem starting tomorrow.
phurface almost 13 years ago
I think TJ should get Luann’s old b/f, Elvis ( I think) to buy WW and make Brad the boss over Ann. What goes ’round, comes ’round my dear
BillWa almost 13 years ago
Isn’t theis the point where she snaps her fingers and TJ becomes the greatest swordsman in the world?
JB10000Lakes almost 13 years ago
TJ could (in his non-threatening way) suggest that maybe he’ll go file a sexual harassment complaint against her and that with Brad’s previous experience with her, he has “back-up” to show a pattern of behavior.
rusty gate almost 13 years ago
Luann will be needing a summer job…hmmm…I wonder where she could work? Apparently WW is the only place in town as Brad returned there when the fire dept. had the cutback.
TJ, this is a minimum pay job, no big loss. You’ve had your fun with the Eifel ‘frigid’ tower, time to move on.
Karptaz almost 13 years ago
don’t forget – TJ had Ann sign an agreemwnt before he was hired – who knows what that said

tomorrow………TJ= “cool, I got fired……………… want to go to Las Vegas and get married to celebrate?” Ann(half distracted)= “sure, just let me finish this paperwork”

I think you have a point @Brittsen and @Professional Rookie. We really don’t know anything about TJ’s past.
serenasakitty almost 13 years ago
If he’s not supposed to call her Ann or Boss, what does that leave? Your Most Gracious Royal Majesty?
Airman almost 13 years ago
No. No. No. I can’t believe this is simply a re-run of the Brad thing. I want to believe that this is where TJ gets up, shuts the door, and the two of them go into a major clinch, knocking over lamps, and crashing into the wall. Passion on the cartoon page. Ah, but then, I’m always wrong at predicting these things.

where can I go to get a good weenie?
smsrt almost 13 years ago
From a frogs eye view: he’ll make one call. She’ll fall in line. The call will make waves in the world of weenies, and TJ’s mystique will stay in tact. (I’m guessing his daddy is a pistol, and he’s a son of a gun.)
ACTIVIST1234 almost 13 years ago
Some people said Tiffany is the strip “villain”, but I don’t think Mr. Evans does villains. Too simple— he leaves that to Marvel Comics.Tiff is an alter-ego for Luann. If there was a “villain”, it’d be Toni’s ex (what’s his name?) But even he rescued Nancy. The Eiffel isn’t a villain either. But I sure hope we don’t see her softer side this week! Keep it going!(And yes, TJ isn’t fired, he’s just “considered” fired! It’s a way for her to save face when she asks for him to stay)

I doubt it will come to light that TJ owns WW. If Ann did a pre-employment background check on him, as all diligent employers would do, and he were the owner, that would have turned up. (Of course, this is Luann Universe, and from the Brad thread we see the HR regulations and standard hire/fire procedures that exist or don’t exist there, so who knows.) Any of the following is more plausible: he’s an undercover health inspector; he’ll organize a union; monkeys might fly out of my butt.

THANK YOU. Finally. Go Ann! He should have been fired weeks ago. Guys, remember, all Ann did was tell Brad not to slack off with his girlfriend during his shift (this is pretty standard for most businesses), then she gave him a promotion to give him another chance, and she later fired him because his girlfriend physically threatened her. This is not an unreasonable villain here, people, this is a manager of a business doing her job. In the case of today’s strip, she’s doing the job she should have done from day one by firing TJ’s stupid self. Of course, I’m sure something completely unrealistic and stupid will happen tomorrow for TJ to find a way to keep sexually harassing and gaslighting this woman, but that’s about what I’d expect from this strip.
maxieman almost 13 years ago
Maybe he is sitting her up for a sexual herrassment case?

“Queen Weenie.” hahahaha
kittykat0714 almost 13 years ago
Robin, you do not spend 100’s of dollars to do a background check on a minimum wage hot dog job. It’s a quick turn over position, could you image how much they would spend on just that.
GreyAcumen almost 13 years ago
She said consider himself fired, not that she was actually firing him.

Re-visiting the Tiffany-Crystal convo from last week about Johnny Depp….Headlines are saying Johnny now lives in LA – hasn’t lived in France for almost a year and is separated from his girlfriend. SO, Tiffany still does have a chance to live near Johnny Depp. :-p
ACTIVIST1234 almost 13 years ago
Ah, Dave53, but there IS chemistry here! More powerful than love is the desire of manipulators to manipulate others. Getting under another’s skin is —say, “thrilling”.But, no, it’s not all about the $$$. It’s about power, about dominance. Money is only a means to dominate others.
Airman almost 13 years ago
Ann is a dominatrix and exudes sexuality. Last I saw, this is a pretty open forum and no one can dictate what we can or can’t say. And, there is no such thing as “too many” horny people.

sjsczurek almost 13 years ago
No, eocene. Brad was not slacking off on the job. And whatever Toni did was not Brad’s fault. Ann was not doing her job, she was overdoing it; abusing her authority (Brad picking up her dry-cleaning was NOT a promotion), being arrogant and condescending with customers or clientele (a very big no-no in business), and for anything else just check the other comments. Ann is a very bad manager. She may be bossy, but she’s a most poor boss.
FigwitsMom almost 13 years ago
eocene82——You say Ann “warned Brad against slacking off,” “gave him a promotion.” and gave Toni absouletely no reason to physically threaten her.So you’re saying Ann’s behavior was perfectly correct all the way down the line, and she’s just a poor, innocent victim who doesn’t deserve to be vilified.I see.Are you reading the same comic strip I am? ?

imbaldeagle almost 13 years ago
TJ does NOT want the manager’s job and won’t accept it even if it were offered. TJ is nor a worker bee; he’s a drone. You never see TJ at a job unless it entails some scheme – which this does. Even if he is the owner, (very doubtful – he would own some more substantial store) he would let the board of directors run it.
Twmaye almost 13 years ago
Fire TJ then he can hire onto the fire dept and be the cook for Brad and Toni

Charles Weir almost 13 years ago
Maybe TJ will pull out some pictures that she wouldn’t want others to see.
The Old Wolf almost 13 years ago
Ann’s an evil beetch, but at this point no one has anything concrete on her. She’s just doing what most managers do, with an extra layer of nastiness added. That’s why I think TJ has something more in mind.
bjballard1 almost 13 years ago
What about the paper he signed?
Chuck373 almost 13 years ago
Everybody picks on poor Ann. She has a job to do. Running a resturant with nothing but a bunch of teenagers as staff has got to be hell. Hiring and firing is part of her job. She’s not there to babysit. If she is seductive in her behavior, without being obvious about it, it’s the seduced individual with the dirty mind.
Chuck373 almost 13 years ago
I also believe that TJ is not through yet. He had to know this was coming sooner rather than later. He does not plan to just walk out the door. As actually being employed is not important to him, he must have something grand in store.
Airman almost 13 years ago
They’ve reached the point of no return. TJ can’t just walk out or the tension building up just deflates like an old balloon. She either grabs him, or he grabs her, or the cavalry comes charging into Weenie World eats everything in sight and has a mustard squirting war. We need some kind of ACTION.
Chuck373 almost 13 years ago
Not a chance that they would like each other. Ann is like a full grown Tiff with brains.
whayle almost 13 years ago
Doubt if the fire dept would let TJ be the cook. At least not for money. Don’t you remember the scheme he and Tiff pulled?? That got her Ms Commerce crown ripped away?
radconPU83 almost 13 years ago
I have always suspected TJ being secretly independently wealthy…I like the idea of him disclosing he is the “Undercover Boss” of this comic strip.
Tinyman almost 13 years ago
OK on Monday’s strip he said"Therey’re coming in". She says Are you taking care of someone He says Yeah. That tells me he is up to something.
vldazzle almost 13 years ago
I love to read the strip just because of all the many characters that Greg manages to juggle at one time. This arc promises to be a good one and I read with special interest the comments of my friends here (and still think our Sheriff has special foresight, so we know that as usual we should “follow the money”. And I agree with whomever said Ann and Madame Mayor are very similar.
mojitobaby almost 13 years ago
Sigh…OK,once again…
“Right to work*” is a term that applies to a unionized shop, meaning that you can’t be forced to join to keep your job. Think about the words – it implies you have a “right to work” without coercion or pressure to sign a union contract.
“At will” employees can be fired or quit AT WILL. They can leave though their own free will, or be invited to leave at their employer’s
Phosphoros almost 13 years ago
TJ has money or some other resource stashed away. There have been previous hints in the strip.
Airman almost 13 years ago
Try not to interpret my rather twisted sense of humor as idiotic or stupid. Track record indicates that I am neither. Besides, it’s fun to say things like, “There’s no such thing as too much cleavage.” Luann is a cartoon strip, an exercise in light humor. Fortunately most folks seem to understand that, others get pretty serious.
achannel almost 13 years ago
Ann is still a bad "guy’? To be honest, TJ had no intention of doing anything but be a disruption to her efforts. I say good riddance to him.
Snoopy_Fan almost 13 years ago
“Queen Weenie”! Ha! I like that!
collectorscomics almost 13 years ago
Nobody has ever indicated what TJ does to earn money. Could it be he owns Weenie World?
mojitobaby almost 13 years ago
No, it’s not. Sorry, but the “at will” doctrine is not on the books as an anti-union measure, and the “right to work” statute was not created solely to shut them down, regardless of what the AFL/CIO’s position is..The “at will” doctrine dates back to the late 1800’s, its purpose was to define employer-employee relationships and prevent abuses where employment could become indentured servitude. With equal standing, either side is free to terminate employment – no harm,no foul. They can fire you if they want to, for any reason – and you can quit if you want to, for any reason, without your boss locking you in the storage room because you still “owe” him six months more work..“Right to work” along with the “union shop” ruling gives you, the individual worker, the option to join a union and support it if you want to – or not. It’s meant to prevent closed shops where joining and supporting one would be a condition of employment. It also doesn’t mean that if you don’t join, you’re a de facto “at will” employee, since there are other types of contracts aside from union ones. .“Right to work” and “at will” employment are two different things". It’s not even an apples and oranges setup, you’re arguing apples and hand grenades. Whether a workplace is better off with unions is another issue.
Mighty_Mouse almost 13 years ago
Hey yeah, I’d go for that!
