What, Jfff couldn’t find the hot babe he took to a Chad and Jeremy show 55-plus years ago, so now he has to settle for his wife Pmm inst…huh? What’s that? The hot babe was Pmm? Good Lord!

“Look, Honey! Our musical tastes haven’t changed since the Nixon Administration!”

This was written 11 months ago. Tom sat on it, because how could you come up with a funnier punchline than this in just a year? This is “Pluggers For Preschool Reading Levels.”

“Chad is dead, but we’ll hear a live performance by two men in their eighties!”

“Jff, isn’t it a bit presumptuous to assume that Pete and Jeremy will still be alive by the concert date?”

Tomorrow: Hippie Jfff and Pmm take a bus to the concert, while 70something Jfff and Pmm drive their gas guzzler.

Friday: The security guard hassles Hippie Jfff for sneaking in a bag of suspicious brownies, while a security guard hassles 70something Jfff for sneaking in a bag of spare Depends.

Saturday: Hippie Jfff and Pmm’s post-concert goodnight kiss on her front porch is interrupted by a watchful Ed, while 70something Jff and Pmm’s post-concert goodnight kiss in the living room is interrupted by Ed, who was watching a Winnipeg Blue Bombers game on the TV.

Sunday: A sideways Chad and Jeremy poster.

Back when the price of the tickets were the price advertised. Now, a $45 ticket actually means a $200 ticket.

Jeff’s mind drifted back to that day in the late 1960s when he first met Pam at University Records. The memory was vivid—her soft smile as she held up the concert ticket for Chad & Jeremy. They had both been so young, filled with the excitement of the music that shaped their lives. That concert became the first of many shared experiences that wove their lives together, a tapestry of love and memories.

Now, in 2024, Jeff stands in the kitchen, holding his phone. The screen displays a mobile ticket for Peter Asher and Jeremy Clyde. He turns to Pam, who smiles at him with the same warmth that captured his heart all those years ago. The lines on their faces tell stories of a life lived together, but the spark in their eyes is unchanged.

“Remember this?” Jeff says, showing her the ticket. Pam looks at the screen, and her smile deepens as memories flood back. She reaches out, taking his hand in hers, a silent acknowledgment of all they’ve shared.

“It’s been a long time since that first concert,” Pam says softly, her voice tinged with nostalgia.

Jeff nods, his heart swelling with the weight of years gone by. “But the music’s still with us, just like we promised.”

They stand there, lost in the moment, the echoes of the past blending seamlessly with the present. The world outside might have changed, but the love and connection between them remain as strong as ever. As they prepare to head out for the concert, Jeff feels a sense of completeness, knowing that the journey that began all those years ago has brought them here, together, still sharing the music and the memories that mean so much.

“Let’s go,” Jeff says, and with Pam’s hand in his, they step into the evening, ready to relive the music that has always been the soundtrack to their love.

Yeah… let’s go see a couple guys in their 70s (80s?) perform the “I’m-a-teenager-in-love” songs that made them popular 60 years ago.

I’m 70 years old and this has absolutely no appeal to me at all.

We’re getting the montage from UP, folks, and I don’t like where it’s headed.

Crankshaft is over at Honest Al’s Casket & Urn Emporium, looking in their slightly used section. It’s in the back, next to their army surplus area.

I want my ashes in a 105 shell!

I loved Chad and Jeremy. I would go if it was Peter and Jeremy. If Moody Blues can still fill an auditorium, so can they.

Is the time wormhole back? Because Pam and Jeff can’t be old enough to have seen Chad and Jeremy.

Jeff looked like John Sebastian of the Lovin’ Spoonful when he was younger. I saw him as a solo artist circa 1974. I could that woman growing into Pam. She is a grandmother now. I just don’t get why so many women get short haircuts when they hit 40 or so. Not me. Had shorter hair for a few years when my kids were little because I was a working mom. But even now, my locks are below my shoulders. I also color and highlight because I don’t want my gray hairs showing! Vanity, thy name is ME.

Call me an old (76) softie, but this is an arc that brings tears to my eyes. Yes, half of each of those duos have passed, but the music lives on. Let Jeff and Pam enjoy their memories….
