Celebrity Halloween Costumes: Cindy Crawford is supposed to be Slash from Guns N’ Roses, but the costume, especially the hat, reminds me of someone else.
Hmm, it does look like Popeye and Olive Oyl (well sort of, I’d be surprised if they got rights to the actual Popeye, but I’ve been surprised before). Is that Swee’pea in the background or is that Dick’s boy.
Kind of a mess on the colour here today. Everyone knows (or should) that Olive has a red top with white cuffs. I’ve never seen a red sailor hat before (should be white) and I’m pretty sure that the boy’s shirt is supposed to be striped (red and white in the Seattle P-I).
It’s true that Comics Kingdom gets the colors better today; they must be more familiar with Popeye over there.I don’t think this will turn out to be the “real” Popeye, however. Rather, some lookalike fisherman, I suspect. —Just Team Tracy messing with our heads….
It’s all “implied”, as I am certain Team Tracy couldn’t get rights from Popeye’s syndicator — but it makes for a nice 3-panel respite as we head to our next tale…
Well, I like it. Yeah, the color is a little screwy, but it’s still fun. As far as I’m concerned, it’s A Perfect Day for Tracy to Take A Walk On The Wild Side aboard the Satellite Of Love.
Beside which, I assume that’s why Olive and her husband (whose name we don’t know yet) have named their boat “Swee’pea.” I never did think that was Tracy’s boat in the last frame yesterday, although he has a similar looking boat.
We just came out of what I understand to be the longest story arc ever for Dick Tracy. Why not have a week or two of “fun”? It will give Abner Kadaver time to track down BB Eyes and the rest of his “contracts” before Dick & Co. will get back to work. I personally enjoy the crossover, it put a smile in my day.
No, you are. Flagged.^^Why do that? I more or less agree, I’ve always hated crossovers, it’s a valid opinion; besides, Popeye (and understand that I’m a longtime fan of the ol’ seadog), is just a little TOO cartoony to be believable as a DT character.
Walt Wallet is also “cartoony” but you didn’t mind that one.^^Actually, Frank King’s style was very close to Gould’s (They were contemporaries, likely, they had the same influences)
“And I flagged 9ChickLuannbean because I’ve seen him whine and complain on every comic he posts on (as far as I know), and I’m sick of his little act.” That being the reason, I agree.
Okay, I just ran across an earlier spoiler from Mike Curtis and the kid in the red cap is indeed Joe, not Swee’pea as some of us have speculated. (I still think the cap ought to be white.)
You know I love when other characters are spotlighted in Dick Tracy. And I agree with Mr Gonzalez I want to see Dick and Fearless work together on a case!!!

If spinach has the same effect on the fish as it does Popeye, they will probably bite Tracy’s arm off.

Does this mean Bluto will be the newest Dick Tracy villain?

Popeye!
Rod Gonzalez about 11 years ago
So this is techincally a crossover with Popeye?
I just wish Dick Tracy would have met his surrogate, Fearless Fosdick from Li’l Abner.
margueritem about 11 years ago
It does appear that Popeye is near.
Good morning, VB!

After what we just went through, I think it’s time we had a little fun, ’eh? Team Tracy has proven they know how to spin a little humor now and then.
dennis4476 Premium Member about 11 years ago
So Joe Tracy has come along with his parents. I was wondering about that. But today’s strip is a hoot!

I’m oddly reminded of the Popeye-type character that appeared in several Superman stories.
