If spinach has the same effect on the fish as it does Popeye, they will probably bite Tracy’s arm off.

So this is techincally a crossover with Popeye?

I just wish Dick Tracy would have met his surrogate, Fearless Fosdick from Li’l Abner.

Hmm, it does look like Popeye and Olive Oyl (well sort of, I’d be surprised if they got rights to the actual Popeye, but I’ve been surprised before). Is that Swee’pea in the background or is that Dick’s boy.

Kind of a mess on the colour here today. Everyone knows (or should) that Olive has a red top with white cuffs. I’ve never seen a red sailor hat before (should be white) and I’m pretty sure that the boy’s shirt is supposed to be striped (red and white in the Seattle P-I).

It’s true that Comics Kingdom gets the colors better today; they must be more familiar with Popeye over there.I don’t think this will turn out to be the “real” Popeye, however. Rather, some lookalike fisherman, I suspect. —Just Team Tracy messing with our heads….

It’s all “implied”, as I am certain Team Tracy couldn’t get rights from Popeye’s syndicator — but it makes for a nice 3-panel respite as we head to our next tale…

Beside which, I assume that’s why Olive and her husband (whose name we don’t know yet) have named their boat “Swee’pea.” I never did think that was Tracy’s boat in the last frame yesterday, although he has a similar looking boat.

We just came out of what I understand to be the longest story arc ever for Dick Tracy. Why not have a week or two of “fun”? It will give Abner Kadaver time to track down BB Eyes and the rest of his “contracts” before Dick & Co. will get back to work. I personally enjoy the crossover, it put a smile in my day.

No, you are. Flagged.^^Why do that? I more or less agree, I’ve always hated crossovers, it’s a valid opinion; besides, Popeye (and understand that I’m a longtime fan of the ol’ seadog), is just a little TOO cartoony to be believable as a DT character.

Walt Wallet is also “cartoony” but you didn’t mind that one.^^Actually, Frank King’s style was very close to Gould’s (They were contemporaries, likely, they had the same influences)
