It looks like an Egyptian mummy. That makes me wonder what the ancient Egyptians would have been doing at the South Pole. I suppose it did look like a typical Egyptian pyramid, though.
Uh… It is true that mummies are found all over the world. But not in an Egyptian mummy case…
Which makes me wonder whose body is really in it? And is Smith stupid enough he isn’t wondering?
>Sigh< An Egyptian mummy case should not be called a sarcophagus, but it is. There are a lot of sloppy inaccuracies in English that have simply become standard usage through misusage. (The “catacombs” of Malta are not catacombs in the Roman meaning of the term. They are underground burial vaults. Underground burial vaults go back thousands of years before catacombs. But tourists will line up to see the catacombs of Malta and have no interesting in viewing underground burial vaults. Catacombs are a distinctly Roman variation on the theme.)
A seeming Egyptian mummy from a pyramid near the South Pole? The anthropologists will be having a field day with that story. Ro-Zan will be hanging around for about a week? Just what Diet wants.
So, the long overdue Lon Chaney , Jr. plotline arrives as, one by one, the characters fall — victims of an ancient Lunarian curse and Clairol, the Mummy (originally supposed to be Lady Clairol, but she had a commercial to film) Starting with B.O. and ‘that terrible chicken.’
You only have to brew the essence of 100,000 ‘nana leaves in gone-flat Pepsi , in a Min Gumpco ’best of the ceramic best’ pot for six weeks for each incident. Only takes a week per victim, so ’tis a sloooow fate!
WILL Tracy find the Lost Bronze Chicken of Lemuria, the mummy’s weakness, in TIME?
WILL Sam steal the wretched thing?
DOES the deli accept bronze relics as payment for that extra side order?
And what of Sweet Polly Purebred who, when last we looked, wasn’t i the strip at all?

People are trying to excuse the Egyptian mummy from the South Pole by claiming it must come from the South Pole of the moon! That’s supposed to make more sense? Why not the South Pole of Jupiter or Venus?
And, the mystery plot of a modern body being hidden in an ancient mummy case goes back more than a century.

I hope Smith is familiar with Homer’s Iliad, because that mummy looks an awful lot like a Trojan Horse.
