The set of “things not the best” includes an awful lot of things that aren’t the worst.

Continuity error. The full moon was a few weeks ago, but now they’re standing in front of a super-duper-humongous moon?

As any bicyclist knows, the downhill is not as easy as the uphill is hard.

It’s a nice thought, but the truth is, it’s highly unlikely those two have ever experienced anything like ‘the worst things in life’. An overcast, moonless night is not ‘the worst thing’, it’s simply an absence of the best thing. The truly worst things leave mental and emotional scars that cannot be erased.

Except that a cloudy sky isn’t one of the worst things in life. It isn’t CLOSE to one of the worst things in life.

The best things in life are often passed over to dwell on the worst things.

The power of suggestion. Also, a happy, vivid memory.

The things that are too painful, we just forget.

First-world problems

Caufield has really hit on an idea that makes it easy to get through hard times like this.

Then again that perspective has worked well for me for years.

Beautiful color as well, with “Night Light” on OR off.

A full moon is “fully” across the sky from the sun. Rising around sunset and setting around sunrise. So if the sun was already up, the moon must have been very low in the sky. Or it was already waning gibbous.

The last line of yesterday’s strip: “I don’t always understand the way you think, but I almost always like it." Last line of today’s: “I like the way you overthink.” I’m sensing a pattern.

Sure, it’s always darkest before the dawn, but it’s always brightest just before the sun goes nova.

People dealing with cancer, Alzheimer’s, or kidney stones might disagree…

Only optimists believe that.
