I know Warren Piece.
I’m up to page 596 of W&P, only 550 to go. Napoleon has just invaded the Russian Empire, which at this time means Poland and Lithuania.
I took a speed-reading course and read War and Peace in twenty minutes. It involves Russia.
A bibliography of Mary Roach:
Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers
Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife
Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex
Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void
Gulp: Adventures on the Alimentary Canal
My Planet: Finding Humor in the Oddest Places
Grunt: The Curious Science of Humans at War
Fuzz: When Nature Breaks the Law
So, what’s the joke?

Had a wiseguy friend who, when asked what he was reading, said War and Peace. When one asked how he liked it, he replied, It’s not bad, but ask me again in about 10 years. I might be finished by then.
I like a comic that gets me to look up something I don’t know about and learn. Pretty tricky, Caufield.
You don’t “sneak” War and Peace anywhere.
i read war and peace in 5th grade and loved it…it was not an assignment
Stiff, Fuzz, Bonk and Grunt. What’s not to like?
Someone once opined that Tolstoy made War and Peace so long in order to make the reader as miserable as the characters.
Two points for Caulfield!
Mary Roach is the best!!!
Tolstoy is a quick read if you shorten the names to just the initials.
Here is an example of a really smart kid who is bored to death in a regular classroom, he needs to go to a school that teaches smart kids
W&P is a very good book.
Oh, I love Mary Roach! Her books are utterly fascinating, hilarious, educational, and riveting all at once. I highly, highly, highly recommend them.
I wonder how many Author Mary Roach hits there will be with Google or Bing?
Mary Roach! Read her books . . . they’re better than they have to be.
Whaddya call a 200 page Russian book? A short synopsis.
So Marry Roach is intellectual humor (or could prompt a high IQ joke)? Of course War And Peace as an acronym lately is even lower.
Charlie Brown was assigned to read War and Peace, I always wondered which elementary school he went to…
OUCH! I got hit by a piece of broken fourth wall!
