Mrs. Olsen is right. There are many opportunities that begin with optimism. The problem comes when that feeling begins to wane in the face of the actual work needed and likely outcome. Tests the spirit.

I don’t LIKE this Comic, I love it. Reading a book last night about Ospreys. The author David Gessner wrote that he “was afraid he liked READING about nature, more than nature itself.” Armchair exerciser or naturalist, or hiker, or biker, or runner? Uh-oh, hits too close to home. But I do love to read. Thanks Jef, another great comic.

I write banned books

A lot of people don’t realize it takes effort to be happy and optimistic…it just doesn’t happen, you actually have to work at it. However, just like anything else, the more effort you put into it, the easier it becomes…even when the weather is bad!

The point our youngster doesn’t understand is that Frazz enjoys riding in the heat and running in the rain. As a bicycle nut, I kinda get it.

It’s too hot to do anything but swim or stay indoors.

When it’s assigned reading, you might expect to hate it. The only optimism there is that you’ll learn enough to pass the course.

This guy must belong to a stupendously good union if his contract lets him just go off and do whatever he feels like whenever the weather turns even a little bit bad.

When I was stationed in Europe, then, down South, I loved running in the rain. Summers could be rather hot, and humid (especially down South), and it was so refreshing to feel the cooler rain splashing on my face.

Mrs. Olsen sounds like she’s been burned by Sturgeon’s Law (IYKYK) too many times.I haven’t read fiction in decades…

I get such a kick out of her overalls every summer.
