I hope Luann hasn’t gained any inches since the “beautiful witch” episode (of which I have no recollection).

Nothing that we’ve seen leads me to believe that either one of them has grown at all, in any sense.

In the third panel, I find it sweet and very touching how Gunther lovingly and tenderly places his hands on both the sides of the lid to his beloved sewing machine, when right behind him, at about the same height as his hands, Luann is calling attention to something he is missing entirely….♫ There’s someone, someone behind you.Turn around, look at me.And, there’s someone who’ll love and guide you.Turn around, look at me.

Oh, I’ve waited, but. I’ll wait forever for you to come to me.Look at someone (look at someone) who really loves you,yeah, really loves you. Turn around, look at me.Turn around, look at me… ♪

There is always at least one person wants to be contrary and a little sour too. Let them be.-People have so many versions of what they consider “grown up” I pay it no mind and just use my own or any psychology I come across. They both seem much more comfortable with each other, which is good. That is a development toward maturity.

It appears that Gunther has decided that he has time to MAKE a dress for Luann – and not incorporate a dress DESIGN into his engineering assignment. Remember that it was Luann’s idea to combine the two, as a means to get Gunther to make her dress. Since Gunther had that moment to reflect, he realized the folly of “redesigning” a dress.

Well, at least that’s what I hoping has happened off-panel between yesterday and today …

No! No! Gunther is gonna get attracted to Luann, who is ready, willing & able. Gunther & Tiff was so much more interesting…

B+ for cartoon dialogue. It leaves it up to your imagination to go where you want it to. Personally, I don’t think this vehicle has an ignition switch.

Let’s be adult here. They’re talking measurements, ‘grown since then’, and Luann looking in the mirror. Even the profile in panel 3 accentuates her bust. Nothing dirty or improper, just a young lady filling out.

After Gunthers comment in the last panel and then Luann says " that makes two us! " …does she mean her, uh, her now adult chested two of hers perkiness (meaning US…get it?) looking into the mirror as they look like they are kinda proudly showing out of her blouse or Im I getting the hidden joke wrong?

I thought the dress was suppose to be for Toni?

She has? She doesn’t look any different. In fact she hasn’t really changed in appearance in years. You’d think she’d at least get a new haircut.

Shouldn’t Luann show her design to Tony & Brad before having the dress made? Does each bridesmaid design her own dress? What happens if they each do that independently?

I think that lu is referring to her breasts as she is admiring them in the mirror… Just saying

Hey I hope I did not get flagged or deleted somehow. I pointed out last night before I retired for the night that the last panel was clearly a double entendre, related to how Luann thinks she has become more physically endowed since Gunther designed that cute high school costume, particularly in the breast area, although I did not use that word, and it’s simply an innocent conclusion one could draw, and which, to me, the non-prudish but respectful person that I am seems obvious. There are of course other plot lines here but this particular part is funny, flirty, and fits her sense of gentle humor. And somebody actually accused ME of being prudish. I hope whoever may have flagged me, if that happened, (maybe being late I just forgot to click the SUBMIT button like I always have to remind my students to do with their online exams) realizes that my comment was meant in good fun, but is a valid conclusion. Besides Luann and Gunther are sophomores in college now, not high school kids anymore, even in Luannverse.

Here’s the plot! Gunth will start designing this, and Tiff will ask what he’s doing. When Tiff finds it’s a dress for Luann, Tiff will offer her “help”. Conflict in Tiff— does she make it unwearable because she doesn’t like Lu or does she make it nice as Tiff has grown up?

To paraphrase Foster Brooks: “What’s the point spread on Luann this week?”

Gunther! Luann WANTS You to Notice that Her bust size has doubled since the last ‘Measurement.’

She’s ALSO giving YOU Implied Permission to Admire Her Ample, Heaving Bosom, as You Lovingily, CAREFULLY, ‘Measure’ Her Bountiful ‘Assets’ in Jaw-Dropped, Amazement.

I am amazed that no one suggested it today yet:What if in measuring her Gunther realizes that he no longer is attracted to Luann, but views her instead as a very close friend just as she appears to view him? That could lead to some good conversations which in turn might lead to Luann pointing out that from the things he has said Tiffany is attracted to Gunther, and Luann encouraging him to try to make a pass. She is probably the only character who appreciates Gunther as a male friend with his own very good points enough to give him that very type of encouragement in approaching another, as she also did in the past, if memory serves (and if i am not also winding in her encouragement for Brad with Toni). BTW, have you noticed that for a bit of extra humor both characters have been dressed not at all for appearance, but for personal comfort (all buttoned up – hiding – for Gunther, and loose knock-arounds for Luann)?

I still say that Lu and Gunther end up together whenever this comic strip ends, hopefully no time soon.

O.k. We’ll see what happens with Gunther’s project and his teach.

Is Luann hitting on Gunther???? I can’t keep track of who likes who anymore

2Unfortunately, today has not helped us to resolve whether Gunther’s sewing will become HIS engineering project in addition to Luann’s art project. I am still hoping Gunther just helps Luann out…. and does not use it for his assignment.I still also hope that Luann gets the ok to have Gunther help sew the dress otherwise Zebo may not approve and Luann would potentially fail the assignment.My biggest concern, however, for today is that today’s effort has set up the very distinct possibility that either Gunther will fall romantically for Luann, Luann may fall romantically for Gunther, or both may fall romantically for each other.In my opinion, I am hopeful there will be NO romantic interaction between Gunther or Luann anytime soon. I have really liked and enjoyed Luann not being “all about romance” lately. And, at least to me, the Gunther/Tiffany potential romance is a more interesting potential story plot than is the Gunther/Luann (or for that matter, the Gunther/Bernice) potential story plots. So I am hoping Greg does not pursue a romantic linkage between the two of them at this time.

Better measure her again Gunther. She’s got old lady hips now. Plus she seems to be under the impression her breasts are bigger than they used to be.

I think she’s just pointing out that he should, “measure twice, cut once”….

I know this is a cartoon, butI am disappointed in Luann’s attitude. Make a dress for “me”. She is being so self centered. The bride is supposed to pick out the bridemaids dresses, or give permission to the bridesmaids to pick out their own (then Luann could go off on her own). Toni doesn’t seem to have any other girlfriends or relatives, so maybe there will only be a maid of honor and a best man. Also, the picture of the dress seems very old fashioned. Hopefully, Gunther will work magic. Maybe Luann will have a career in fashion and set design in the movies with Gunther’s help, Everything points to them being together if they ever grow up. Although I like Gunter and Tiffany together better.

I think its just another subtle jab that Luann and Gunther will never date and if they did, it would be way to awkward for them both. He’s her best guy friend and his best girl friend

You know…. in thinking about this….. I understand the whole reason behind Greg’s sort of “mashing” together the wedding bridesmaid dress and Luann’s art project together…. and it does make sense…… but:To me, there is really limited potential for the bridesmaid dress to be anything but regular, fairly traditional, and probably somewhat muted….. if it is also going to be worn at the wedding. However, the wearable art project if it were to be not about Luann making a bridesmaid dress… but instead something really CREATIVE and DIFFERENT could be so very exciting and interesting an arc all by itself. This thought came to me as my wife and I watched “Project Runway” last night. The show is actually quite creative and fun and artistic…. even though I am not particularly interested in clothing or clothing styles…. I find the actual artistic effort and the artistic mindset very enjoyable to observe.

There is no such thing as British humor unless you wait several minutes for them to get it.

Believe it or not, i am not trying to cause trouble. I was truth be told a bit snarky with my own response, but it was along time coming.

I have asked this person int he past why they are so angry and cynical all the time and either got half responses or none at all.

The issue i have is whenever something is glossed over that is not really important to moving the story line, or would take up 6 weeks of panels just to explain, it is always ‘sloppy’ writing, or ‘laziness’. Some people get caught up in the details that are not really worth worrying about.

Once again this comic can’t seem to get its timeframe right. The dress was made “years ago” but that strip took place in 2008, the same year when Shannon was stated to be 5 years old. But she’s only supposed to be 6 now, so there’s some time discrepancy at work here.

Since I arrived too late for the first round of Luann and Gunther, I don’t have that been there done that feeling. So I found myself wanting them to flirt a little. But Gunther doesn’t seem the type. And then what does Luann know about Gunther’s feelings for Bernadette? And were they returned at all? What I need is a romantic/relationship status FAQ.

Luann seems pretty sure of herself and of her asset growth (panel 3). But looking at the witch thought-image in panel 2, I don’t see any real change in size from then to now.Nonetheless, maybe Gunny had better take Lulu’s measurements, just to be sure….

Gunther’s remark in panel 3 brings this song to mind…

Gunther has “grown up” so much that he is avoiding having to measure Luann. very slick!
