It’s so sad when Luann misses an opportunity for some good, old-fashioned, righteous indignation. I suppose the real point of this is to bring back Zebo because Evans didn’t make enough jokes about art with him the last time.
Still trying to figure out how Tiff went from getting Ox to protect her from Les in high school, to being friends/allies, to potentially becoming sibblings if Ann marries Tiff’s dad. And now Gunther and Les are about to become brothers, which would potentially make Tiff their sister. Next we will learn that Luann and Jack are related.
Fortunately we don’t always have to compare ourselves to our friends. But when we know that Tara was already accepted as a model – the comparison was in Luann’s face. Tara might add that Luann could be a good model if she wanted to – however there’s a strong argument for changing the subject.
In the first frame – Tara’s expression shows that she didn’t really want to go to class – and it also seemed to reflect that she liked Nil and wasn’t ready to leave. It seems unlikely that Tara will complete college – her heart isn’t in it. Maybe Tara could sell Porsches – if I were rich I would want to buy one from her.
Luann’s look of horror in the third panel is totally overdone. Maybe it’s Greg’s sop to his Bible Belt readers. Her disappointment in the last panel is much more genuine. She can spell ‘modesty’ but can she define it?
So Nil thinks Lu has some talent as an artist. Guess I am the only one that noticed.Note: I live in the “bible belt”. Not as restricted as you may think.
We are all assuming that she will take the figure drawing class. Just because Nil thinks she has the talent for it doesn’t necessarily mean Luanne herself is all that interested or she would have signed up for the class on her own. It might make for some interesting situations though.
Luann needs Tara in her life BADDDDDDDD. She needs a little willingness to be a bit daring, a little bad, but in a good girl way, to the limits of what a GOOD girl will do. Tara is near, but not quite at the limits, and I confess I am falling in love with a comic character. Thanks Greg for bringing this character in, want more. Jack and Emo/Nil? Well you run into people like that in college. So, we see.
Were this week’s strips just a throw-away story, never to be revisited? If so, now that the intermission is over, what will be next week’s subject? I very much hope it is the failure of Tiff, Luann, etc., to notify the cops about Ann Eifel’s lingerie fraud. Since there are over 100 women who are out several hundred dollars each but haven’t been notified that they were scammed, and since Ann is free to continue staging her lingerie parties in some other venue and scam still more people, surely something must be done soon (as it should have been done right away, but unforgivably wasn’t) to bring this situation to justice. As an aside – do Frank and Nancy yet know that the Fuse was the site of a crime? One of the hundred scammed women may themselves find out that the lingerie they purchased there wasn’t genuine, and that customer may now be the one to call the cops. Frank and Nancy could very well then do the perp walk, since the cops wouldn’t have any reason to believe that the Fuse wasn’t in on it. How long can this situation be ignored?
Luann could have been pleased to hear that Nil thinks she has artistic talent. She could be telling Tara how she helped Fay reason with her mother AND get a part in a play, but no…. She’s been a negative Nellie, glass-half-empty kind of person all week. Maybe it’s that time month? Maybe Being around Tara so much has her focusing on what she isn’t, and forgetting about what’s going well, and her own positive qualities? In any event, I hope she gets back to more of a balance soon.
yayyyy…… as I hoped, but did not expect, some reference to Luann continuing with art classes. Greg showed that she has talent. It has been disappointing that he has not had her continue with it.
I’m sorry, but Luann looks even worse than I initially realized. Not only was she exposed as thinking Nil thought she should pose nude, but her facial expression indicates she doesn’t care that Nil complimented her artistic skill.

Wait, Tara. You spent all that time talking with Nil about elbows and Luann? That’s a tad strange.
Now the BIG question IS: "Who will be the (Male) Model when Luann attends that “class.”
1) Jack?
2) Nil?
3) Gunther? (Whom Luann has seen naked and wet as is comfortable with)
4) Quill?
6) Hair?
7) Piro? (Who needs the dough)
8) Elwood Druit? (God Help Us)
9) Jonah?
10) Les? (In an effort to meet chicks)
11) Ben? (Much to Bernice’s Horror)
12) TJ?
13) Knute? (Wearing nothing but a smile)
13) Some new guy who’ll end up being Luann’s next Handsome edgy Love interest?

I’d say she’s disappointed, Tara. Clearly Nil doesn’t see her sex appeal or potential.

Does Luann even know herself whether she’s relieved or disappointed?
